Dined at Cascade dining room for my friend’s bachelorette party & the food was delicious. I ordered the pomegranate braised short rib & it was cooked to perfection. I also had a non-alcoholic Huckleberry lemonade spritz which was very refreshing & fruity. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their entrée, drinks, & dessert. It is very expensive (to be expected for fine dining), so if your budget is tight, I would recommend dining elsewhere. Overall a good experience for group dining.

A Hidden Gem at Timberline Lodge!

I honestly wasn’t expecting great food at a place where the main attraction is clearly Mt. Hood—yet the Cascade Dining Room completely blew me away. The salad was unbelievably fresh, the cheese plate had an impressive variety of snacks, the risotto was excellent, and the chicken… wow. Easily one of the top three chickens I’ve had in my life (and I’ve tried many!). Truly a hidden gem at Timberline.

A few simple things would elevate this experience. Service was good but the tables and the dining hall felt bare. Missing some classics on the breakfast menu like eggs benedict and pancakes. There wasn’t great ambiance or warmth to the experience and our only view was to the parking lot.

This felt like real luxury. The Timberline is dated and campy, which is what makes it attractive. But nestled in the heart of a bulky lodge that has outlived its genre is this absolute culinary delight. The views speak for themselves, and the service was on par with the food and the pricing. Treat yourself to the blackberry porkchop and do not look back. The salmon was as fresh as expected, and I was pleased to find something as light as the watermelon and cucumber salad. I doubt we’ll stay overnight again but the Cascade is unquestionably worth revisiting.

Service was fast, friendly and accommodating. Anything charbroiled was not edible. We ordered a classic breakfast (with ham) and burger and the charbroiled flavor was so intense, we couldn’t eat them. The server was helpful in swapping out Bacon for the ham. The high price va quality left a lot to be desired. I’d recommend the Ramshead bar upstairs instead where I’ve had better food.

Always a treat to stay at timberline and enjoy the dining room. We usually just have sandwiches in the car, so this time was extra special. Came here to say good job to everyone working hard during our busy new year stay, we see you. The fancy butter trio and the upgraded crystal water glasses really stole the show for me. Bravo

We arrived at Timberline Lodge on the first evening of snow, greeted by the cozy glow of fireplaces warming the lodge. After a day filled with sightseeing and hiking, we were ready for a hearty meal, and friends had highly recommended the Cascade Dining Room.

Our friendly waiter seated us and suggested their top dishes, including the Grilled Northwest Beef, Braised Lamb Shank, and a Crab Cake appetizer. Everything was spot on! The portions were generous – we could have easily shared a single entrée. The beef was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor, while the lamb shank was deliciously rich and fall-off-the-bone tender. These comforting dishes warmed us right up.

To end the night, we shared a skillet cookie with ice cream, the perfect sweet finish. The view from our table was magical, with snowflakes sparkling in the light just outside the window. Cascade Dining Room made for a perfect evening – great food, warm ambiance, and unforgettable views. Highly recommended!

Disappointing experience. Cascade seems to focus on odd ingredients and an over-abundance of them. In other cases the restaurant tries to execute some twist on what might otherwise have been a classic. The better approach would be to select higher quality ingredients and prepare them more simply and with excellence. Limit the bells and whistles.

We ordered grilled shrimp, porcini bisque, Cesar, ribs and steak. And we had two deserts. The soup and ribs were fine. The other items were not good. The shrimp were overcooked and flavorless. The Cesar was Ok but made with butter lettuce as a twist against the classic Romaine – why? (The dressing smothered and collapsed the butter lettuce.) The steak (which I ordered as a safe bet) was overcooked (ordered med-rare but presented med-well), tough and lacking in flavor. It was also presented as two, thin steaks stacked on each other – odd. The sauce over the steak was potentially innovative but could not, and should not need to, make up for the basic steak quality and cooking execution mistakes. That steak price was $63, btw – would not have minded IF the quality had been in accordance. Both deserts (cranberry/apple cobbler and chocolate lava cake) both had odd flavors – those should be easy, classic wins.

The ambiance was lacking: What has happened to the table linens? Why no green plants? Why no fire in the hearth? Flowers missing on our table. Music maybe?

The staff were friendly and helpful.

We visit Timberline Lodge frequently. I learned to ski there 50 years ago. We have had special wedding anniversaries at Cascade in years past. At present the Cascade Dinning room fails to honor the unique and special history of Timberline Lodge and, very unfortunately, I will not return to dine before significant changes are made.

The recent reviews made me question whether I should have dinner here. But after having eaten, and looking at those reviews again, I come to the conclusion there are a lot of Portland Karens eating here. It’s hard to imagine finding fault with King Salmon that cuts like fine pate, or wagu beef properly prepared and presented. It’s possible that preparation and staff quality are highly variable, but in a lodge so well established, I find it unlikely in my experience. Truely enjoyed all aspects af the meal from view to presentation to flavour. True that it’s pricely, but that is expected in the circumntances. Don’t knock the establishment for something you should expect. Kudos, Timberline!! Keep up the great work!!
