Located in the heart of Guanajuato, Casa Valadez is a gem hiding in plain sight. Even on a busy Sunday afternoon with no reservation, we were seated within minutes—already a pleasant surprise. We were fortunate enough to get a window table with a perfect view of the iconic Teatro Juárez. What a treat!
The moment I tasted their tortilla soup, I was transported back in time. I first tried it twenty-five years ago, and with the very first spoonful, memories flooded back. It is still just as rich, comforting, and absolutely worth trying.
Our party of three ordered the Menú del Día for only 300 pesos, which included an entrée, a first and second course, and a choice of coffee or dessert. Oh my goodness—the quality was outstanding. From the careful presentation of every dish, to the exceptional flavor, spotless restrooms, gracious staff, and unbeatable location, Casa Valadez easily earns five stars from me.
If you’re visiting Guanajuato, this restaurant is a must.
Bonus: Their wine selection is surprisingly extensive!

We had dinner here recently. Our waiters, Gabriel and Alfred, were excellent—truly awesome service! The first entrée was just okay and could have been better. My rib eye steak prime was supposed to be well done (my preference), but it came out medium rare. When I sent it back, it ended up overcooked and crispy. Dessert was okay as well. Overall, it was an average experience. I appreciate the great service, but I’m not likely to return.

Casa Valadez is a fantastic spot right in the heart of Guanajuato’s historic centre. The food is excellent, whether you’re stopping in for breakfast or lunch. I had the tamal colado, and it was absolutely spectacular — easily one of the best tamales I’ve had in my life. The enchiladas mineras, a regional classic, are also a must-try.
One thing that really sets Casa Valadez apart is that they bake all of their bread in-house. As soon as you sit down, you’re served a basket with a variety of freshly baked breads, all delicious. My favourite was the panqué de elote, which was outstanding.
Great food, beautiful location, and a true taste of Guanajuato. Highly recommended.

The oriental pasta and salmon tacos were delicious. Good service, even when the restaurant was busy on a weekend. My complain is about the price: I am shocked that there is no price of the prawns that accompany the pasta, shown on the menu. It’s a shock when the bill comes. And then to see that 6 prawns costs $325?! Very quickly a $170 pasta became a $495 pasta. That’s PLENTY of money for 6 prawns.

Dinner at Casa Valadez was excellent! Would love to come back for their breakfast menu! The waiters were extremely attentive and the food was delicious. I had a burger that was cooked to perfection and the fries were extra crispy! Family members had several other dishes including the Salmon dish and Arrachera Tacos. Bacon wrapped chicken breast was slightly dry but still good nonetheless!

Came here for a reunion with the family. Took around 15 to 20 minutes to get me a table for 11 (on the 15th of September!) people without reservation which I didn’t expect to be possible, therefore already a big thank you. Food was delicious and they keep surprising me every time I come. 5 stars for the food. The pulpo, wauw, super tasty dish ! I would recommend the mix of moles ! I strongly recommend this place in general.

I had the 5 chicken mole Enchiladas and all 5 of them had a different flavor. They were very tasty. Then crepes for dessert.

Came here for our 21st anniversary. The food was okay. The steak needed more of a char to it. The drinks were forgettable. I wanted to rate the service a 5 since our waiter was attentive;however, he forgot the anniversary surprise I requested when I walked in and made the reservation. We sat near the entrance and there is a partition wall that separated our table from the aisle way. There was one hostess that made it awkward by continuously resting this arm on top of the wall. While we absolutely LOVE this city, we will not be dining at this location again.

The steak was served on a sizzling hot plate and it was perfectly done.Shrimp Gratin was mouth watering! The shrimps were juicy and fresh. Service was excellent, super attentive … food is great. The chicken breast, baked with Parmesan was not bad. We ordered Tiramisu and another dessert( corn bread with sweet condensed milk)… our opinion, the tiramisu was dry… the other dessert was not great. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things.

Food was mediocre. Service was rushed from the moment we sat down. Had 4 people try to take our order within 5 minutes of arriving. Beautiful place / location.
