Came to Casa Pública for a girls brunch with my cousins! Food was amazing! Ordered the “Huevos Rancheros”. I asked for the salsa on the side! So glad I did because the fresh taste of the WHOLE PLATE at least to meee was way better without the salsa. We also got the churros! So fresh and perfect crunch!! Coffee was great!!!!! Beautiful place!!

La Casa Publica is a little gem on Union Avenue in Brooklyn. The restaurant is on a corner, its windows are broad and tall, and the morning light for brunch inspires. You can’t top the service or friendly feeling. I recommend the pollo al pibil as an appetizer (pictured). Enjoy!

The best Mexican spot in the neighborhood! Food and drinks to die for and service is incredible. They have an amazing Happy Hour that’s perfect for a fun night out or with a small group of friends.

We ordered the Enchiladas, Carnitas Tacos, Yucca Fries, and Esquites and everything was amazing. The churros to end the night were perfect!!!

Special shoutout to Tomas <33 he made our night so special by being attentive and kind.

Will be back soon!

We love Casa Publica and their staff. We did a large party in the back room for our daughter’s first birthday. It was easy to plan and the day was exactly how we envisioned. They even made special menus. Tomas even helped us with setting up the decorations, which was above and beyond. The food is delicious, the drinks are the best in the neighborhood, and you can’t match the service: thank you, Casa Publica.

3/22/24- review update: shout out to Tomas and Fernando coordinating and hosting my birthday dinner!! I love the special touch of my custom birthday menus they printed for me. They made the whole experience so enjoyable and I could not recommend this place enough for dinner and any kind of event!! Truly an amazing time, the best food and amazing vibes!! My utmost thanks!!!

2/15/25- We were able to be seated even though we did not have a reservation. The ambiance was really wonderful for a catch up with friends or even a date night. Highly recommend the steak! It was so tender on top of a bed of yuca fries.

I’ve been a repeat customer of this restaurant for quite some time and have often recommended it to friends, family, and community members, as a native Brooklynite. This past Saturday, I happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by to quickly run to the bathroom.
Upon entering, I politely asked a waiter with a beard where the bathroom was. His response was, “What about the bathroom?”, an unnecessarily rude and dismissive tone. I repeated that I was simply looking for the restroom, and he abruptly told me it was for customers only and I would not be allowed to use it.
As someone with a chronic illness protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), I was experiencing an urgent medical need. I didn’t feel comfortable discussing the details in that moment, but the way I was treated, with suspicion and disrespect, was unacceptable. The staff made no effort to handle the situation with empathy or even basic courtesy.
Unfortunately, after this experience, I can no longer support this establishment. I won’t be returning, and I’ll be advising my friends, family, and local community to take their business elsewhere. Kindness and respect should be the foundation of any customer interaction, especially for those who have supported a business repeatedly.

A 10/10 Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home
Casa Pública isn’t just our favorite restaurant in Greenpoint, it’s our favorite restaurant in all of New York City. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. The owner’s passion radiates in every detail, from the impeccable service to the vibrant, soulful food that never misses. Every dish feels personal, as if it was made just for you, with care and heart.

There’s a warmth here that’s hard to describe. A mix of familiarity, hospitality, and genuine love for good food and good people. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger longer, order another round, and come back again and again.

Casa Pública is a rare kind of special in our community. Ten out of ten, every single time.
