My family and I recently dined at Casa Ortega in Wappingers Falls, and I can confidently say this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, everything—from the atmosphere to the service to the food—was executed at an exceptionally high level.
Let’s start with the food, because it truly deserves center stage. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, but the standout for us was the baby back ribs, expertly prepared by the chef. These were, without exaggeration, some of the most flavorful and perfectly cooked ribs we’ve ever had. The meat was incredibly tender, falling right off the bone, seasoned to perfection, and balanced beautifully with rich, authentic flavors that clearly reflect real culinary skill and care. You can tell the chef takes pride in every plate that leaves the kitchen.

I’ll be honest — it’s really hard to find truly authentic food these days. Not just a place that looks good, but one where the food actually matches the vibe. Casa Ortega did exactly that for me.
I had the steak & chicken tacos with rice and beans and wow… everything was so good. The meat was well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. The sauces were honestly one of my favorite parts — so good, not overpowering, just right. Even the rice and beans were on point, which says a lot.
The food was so good that I actually asked to personally thank the chef. Chef Fermin was incredibly kind and genuinely appreciative that I loved the dishes he made, which made the experience even better. You can tell there’s real care and pride behind the food.
I also had a margarita on the rocks and it was super refreshing and balanced — not too sweet, not watered down. You can tell they actually care about what they’re serving.
I’m really glad I stepped out of my usual comfort zone and tried this place. It completely changed how I feel about exploring new spots like this. The food, the atmosphere, the experience — it all just felt right.
Definitely a place I’ll be going back to.

I LOVE Casa Ortega and have been eating here on a regular basis for years now. The staff are so friendly, the food is superb, and the drinks are creative. All of the food is fresh and relatively light for bringing complex Mexican flavors. Taco Tuesdays are a great bargain at <$5 per taco, and you can mix and match as many as you want! Some of my personal favorite food recommendations are: the Verduritas Tacos, Rajas con Crema, Pulpo Tacos, Pescado Tacos, Guacamole Tradicional, and Carne Asada (the Quesabirria De Res is also super popular). I also highly recommend their Old Fashioned and Mezcalita.

As someone who recently moved here, I’ve heard from all the locals how amazing Casa Ortega is. My girlfriend & I went to dinner and we were not disappointed. The pictures attached don’t do the food service. But all I can say is that you can taste the care that went into preparing all the items we tried. This is 100% authentic to the Mexican dining experience. And a big shoutout to our server Diana was INCREDIBLE & super nice

Good overall. The service was very attentive. The guacamole was excellent. The carne asada tacos were ok. The rice and beans were very bland. The masa steak quesadilla was good. Horchata was ok. The better drink was the cucumber lemonade. The allow diners to bring dogs in the outdoor seating area.

Back on Tuesday January 14th two days ago, me and Mom came to Casa Ortega for the first time for Dad’s 74th Birthday. We really loved the place and the Tacos were Delicious. The server was very Nice to us as well and it started getting packed after 5pm. Highly recommend this place in Wappingers for a great Dinner.

We’ve been to Casa Ortega several times and still find interesting items on the menu. We enjoy the tacos, Burrito’s, enchiladas and quesadilla’s but my wife tried the Camarones Rellenos De Cangrejo and it was delicious.

Had a great time eating here on Sunday. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. The guacamole was bright and fresh. The ribs were huge and really tender. The star of the meal was the quesabirria, it was so flavorful and the tortillas were super crispy. Serving sizes were plentiful, we had to take one of the quesabirrias home with us we were so full. Will definitely come back and have recommended it to friends already.
