Best authentic pizza in town, I’m so glad I came. Marco cuts the pizza to your preference size, so you can try more variety, I highly recommend it. A little pricey but worth every penny.
Limited seating but there a little dinning area near buy with seat and tables.

Casa Manco, nestled within Rome’s vibrant Testaccio Market, has earned a reputation as one of the city’s most beloved pizza al taglio (by the slice) spots. What sets it apart is not only the high-quality ingredients but also the creativity that goes into each combination. The dough itself is an artwork, light, airy, and perfectly crisp at the base, with just the right chew. It’s fermented slowly, giving it a nutty depth that complements every topping.

Their classic Margherita dazzles with simple yet extraordinary balance—sweet San Marzano tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil leaves, each bite reminding you why Italian simplicity is unmatched. More adventurous varieties like zucchini blossom with anchovy and burrata show Casa Manco’s flair for innovation, offering bright, contrasting flavors that feel both rustic and refined. The seasonal toppings, figs with prosciutto, pumpkin with gorgonzola, or roasted pear with pecorino, highlight the kitchen’s creativity and devotion to fresh market produce.

Even the vegan options burst with flavor, thanks to quality olive oils, grilled vegetables, and aromatic herbs. Whether you prefer traditional or bold modern pairings, every slice at Casa Manco reflects a passion for dough, balance, and freshness. Making it one of Rome’s truly unmissable pizza experiences.

Absolutely incredible in every way! The owners (wife and husband duo) were the 2 nicest people we met in all of Rome. They took the time to explain each pizza’s toppings and even gave us some fun facts about Testaccio market and the surrounding neighborhood (and also gave us restaurant recommendations for our upcoming trip to Florence). All of the produce is freshly sourced from the market itself. You buy each slice by weight, so we were able to try 3 flavors for only 10€ (we split all this between my wife and myself and we were stuffed). The best pizza we have had in Rome. The guanciale pizza was fantastic!! 10/10

The most incredible pizza by the slice in Rome. Served with love and laughter. Try the rossa and also the mushroom and the zucca. Actually they’re all excellent. The seasonal flavours are all worth trying, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing place , super friendly and welcoming service and just outstanding pizza! The great thing is that they are sourcing their pizza ingredients from the same market. Highly recommend! You will not regret visiting this place.

Best pizza I’ve had in Rome, or probably everywhere. The serving system is great – you choose the pizza type and slice size (cut right then and there), everything is straight from the oven (or 10 minutes behind). Fresh and amazing, great ingredients, great team behind the counter. Lots of choices, some standard, some totally wild. Absolute must for pizza lovers.

This pizza was amazing. I had 6 different flavors cause it was just soo good.

Margherita
Pesto
Ham & Cheese
Mushroom, Cheese & Chilli Flakes
Guancale & Honey
Zucchini Flower & Cheese

I can’t rank all of them cause they were all good. The bread was crunchy, airy and chewy as well. The cheese was rich, creamy and incredibly fresh.

This was by far the best pizza I’ve had in Rome, even though, I haven’t been here long.

Being objective, and having enjoyed great pizza all around Italy, I can say that what earns Casa Manco such a high rating is most likely their creativity, but above all their kind and sincere service. The gentleman who welcomed us was genuinely friendly and offered excellent suggestions.

The pizza dough is fairly standard and a bit unusually thick by Italian craft pizza standards, yet it provides a solid base for what comes on top. Since I noticed they were using supermarket pesto (Metro Chef), I believe they focus more on creative toppings rather than crafting every ingredient themselves, which is -in my opinion- a valid approach that deserves appreciation. The only comment is that it was a little overpriced compared to whole pizza pricing (€14 for the ones you see in the picture).

We walked from the city center just to try it, and overall, I can say it was worth it!

Must try for pizza al taglio! Artisanal, freshly made, high quality ingredients. Crispy crust, pillowy dough, generous toppings with an interesting variety. Owners are friendly and patient while serving customers, and even warm up your pizzas before plating so every slice enjoyed fresh out the oven. Worth going out of your way for.

Casa Manco is a pilgrimage. A pilgrimage to one of the best pizzas on earth, offered from a humble market stall. This is artisan cooking, artisan baking. A better crust than you have ever tasted, and fifteen varieties available by weight, whatever size you would like. Plus, a very pleasant person behind the counter.

On a recent trip I had lunch here on my first day in Rome and on my last day. Need I say more?

By the way, it looks far, but from the historic center it’s only about a 35 or 40 minute walk, and you can go past the Bocca della Verita and through the Aventine Hill along the way. Recommended. I’ll be back. A la prossima!
