Since 1987, we have been making our vision a reality. Our family’s goal is to bring a festive atmosphere and fresh flavors to the fun city of Austin, TX. Our inspiration comes from the town of Chapala, one of the beautiful cities that surrounds the largest lake in Jalisco, Mexico. Our authentic cuisine originates from our family recipes from the central and coastal regions of Mexico; Mainly the states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Together with our extended family and staff, we strive to create a genuine traditional Mexican experience. We offer over 200 tequilas and other agave distilled spirits. From our family to yours, buen provecho and muchas gracias. We welcome our guests with a heartfelt greeting, as we say in Mexico:

We go to Chapala a lot because they have the best service, there’s rarely a wait to be seated, and they have great drinks! Their food is good; nothing to write home about, but it satisfies. I would say they are one of the better places to eat in Bastrop.

Happened to be in Bastrop for work and decided Mexican food sounded good for dinner. I have been in and out of Bastrop since 2010 and this is the first time I ever stopped here. I was NOT disappointed in any way. Parking lot seemed full so honestly I expected to be on a wait list. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and shown to a table right away. Of course the special they would advertise is Taco Tuesday lol. I love Quesabarilla Tacos so I ordered 2 of them. Shortly after placing my order a young man brought out some chips and bean dip and then proceeded to mix fresh salsa at my table to my desired level of heat. The bean dip was made with chorizo and the temperature and texture were absolutely perfect. The salsa was a bright color and very aromatic. You could tell it was fresh just by the look and smell alone. I have always judged a majority of Mecican food places by their salsa…and this one knocked it out of the park. Then came the quesabarilla tacos. The meat was moist and full of flavor. And unlike other places, these tacos were not full of oil and grease. The consume sauce was delicious and tasted spectacular. I would definitely give this place a 10/10 and highly recommend that you stop in if you are ever in Bastrop. I won’t overlook this place again.

I really liked this place. I have been to the Austin location and found this one better. I sat at the bar and the service was great. My enchiladas were incredibly tasty. The squash was cooked perfectly the rice was nice and fluffy. The flavor of everything was wonderful. I also enjoyed all the drinks I ordered. The service is very good and I very much recommend this place!

We had the beef nachos and we highly recommend.
Beware the drinks are strong but really good flavor.
Great location with great parking.

Cool looking interior, 2 story restaurant. Food was ok, nothing special. They make their own flour tortillas.
Our party of 7 wasn’t all served their meals at the same time, almost 2 minutes to bring out 2 meals.
Had the large party time added (20%) to the bill.
