Ladies and Gentlemen, I believe it’s time to once again part the Red Sea and allow Carta Marina Seafood safely walk across dry ground.
This place has been Mexican Restaurants and Seafood spots in the past but this time I think they finally nailed it.
It has basically the same layout as it’s predecessors however with upgrades and much cleanliness. But the best upgrade ever here is…
The Food!
I ordered the whole catfish which was served surprisingly with shrimp fried rice a salad and some fries. This catfish is served headless which is perfect and the flavors is one of the best whole catfish I’ve had in ALL of Houston. Yes even better than Captain Toms which is up the street.
The shrimp fried rice was extremely good. Ranks as one of the better shrimp fried rice spots I’ve had outside of China town. Although its made up of popcorn sized shrimp, the flavor profile is phenomenal.
Let me note that as a seafood spot they also have some great fajita and chicken alternatives for tacos and quesadillas. Including even a hamburger however I did not try them.
The drinks from the bar are nicely balanced and the presentation of them are wonderful.
The authenticity of this Mexican style seafood spot is on par and the flavors are perfect on the seafood items I’ve tried so far.
Oh and the bathrooms are spotless and clean. That makes a major difference in eating establishments.
This spot is definitely a staple in the area and I highly recommend this place over any other major chain Seafood spot. They deserve the red carpet in the seafood space.

I popped in here around lunchtime today for the first time. Diane working behind the bar area was very nice and delightful to practice Spanish with.
Even though I didn’t stay long during my initial visit to this lively restaurant, I can’t wait to come back to try their various seafood entrées.

Came a few months ago and wasn’t impressed—came back today and WOW! New name, way better quality. The oysters here are HUGE and so much better than at other places in the area. Tostada mixta was amazing, caldo botana was bigger and better than expected, and my dad loved his parrillada.
Our server and the owner, very attentive.
Only suggestion: add a cheese quesadilla to the kids’ menu for picky eaters/allergies. I’ll definitely be back!

Came here before when it had a different name and didn’t like the food or drinks. HUGE improvement of the food and drinks. I would definitely recommend this restaurant the friends and family.

Had high hopes but the quality just isn’t here. I don’t think this is a quality seafood place at all.
The brochette shrimp were just dry and thrown into deep fryer. The cocktail shrimp were just chopped up shrimp with lime and no cocktail sauce. Fajita meat was cut too large and hard to chew along with the onions that tasted like soap.
We would not return.

I’m truly impressed by Carta Marina Seafood and Oyster. This place I gave a 5 star because the food, service and atmosphere was great. The patio is most impressive. Very clean establishment. The Manager stopped by to see how things are going. This is quality service. The music was fantastic and they also have happy hour. I’m from Florida and it was very hard to find a great place like this Houston. Come and see for yourselves.

Came here after work on Friday had to get some appetizers and some beer to wind down my busy day! Had the oysters dozen of them and they were delish! Then ordered the Cajun shrimp and crab fingers they were to die for! And Maggie at the bar took care of my order and drinks and well the service was outstanding that I stayed till they closed truly recommend! Good spot to wind down after a busy crazy day!
