It was a cold January night after a snowstorm, and most if not all restaurants in the Boothbay area were closed for the season. I was searching for anywhere that was open when I came across Carriage House Restaurant. Set against the snow, it looked almost enchanted.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted warmly. The atmosphere was cozy, inviting, and exactly what you want on a winter night. I ordered the grilled romaine heart Caesar salad with cornbread croutons and shaved Parmesan and added the blackened chicken. It was, hands down, the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had.
Excellent food, genuinely friendly service, and a warm refuge on a snowy winter evening. A real gem in East Boothbay.

We went there looking for something special on Valentine’s Day and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was rustic and inviting. We had a table by the fire, which was very nice. The menu was creative with a good mix of sea food and non seafood entrees. The chef did a great job with preparation . What made it really special for us was our waitress Lynsie. She was the absolute best, guiding us through the menu and always checking on us to see if we needed anything.

What a great meal! Scallops were perfect, oysters magnificent! Wine was fresh and great quality. We took our family before the Gardens Aglow tour. DELICIOUS. The waiter was attentive and friendly. 10 out of 10!

The calamari was excellent. The steak too. The fish and chips and crab cakes weren’t great. Awesome staff. Our first time.

We came out to dinner this evening and what a great choice. I thought I knew what I wanted because I have been craving fresh fish and was going to simply get the Fish & Chips until they read the specials and then I couldn’t decide!! I ended up going with the Fried Scallop basket. Delicious lightly battered crispy scallops that I could taste w/ hand cut french fries. We also got the crab cakes, they were plentiful and fresh…. the aioli elevated the flavor. I was very impressed with the GRILLED Romaine Caesar w/ homemade dressing (I don’t find it often) I left full but didn’t skip out on dessert for later couldn’t resist trying cherry-raspberry pie service was great they were prompt accommodating and very friendly, we will definitely be back

Found this restaurant on Google maps while visiting Ocean point. My decision to dine here was a good one. My food was delicious. The staff were friendly and nice. I was one of the first customers as I arrived quite early. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and pleasant. The food was also a pleasant surprise with its excellent taste. Highly recommended!

First time going. Saw it had great reviews. Seemed like it was more classy than your typical deep fried american garbage. I had the Crap Stuffed Haddock and it was phenomenal. It was beautifully plated and really the flavors were fantastic. I was stuffed without room for dessert.

It must have been an off night (Sunday, Jan 3) at The Carriage House. Having been twice before to a really good meal, we were disappointed in a couple of things that affected our experience. We think the oil used for the fries and chicken wings was old, as both were very dark brown with a funny taste. The chicken wings crust was really dark brown and gritty rather than crispy. We were on a schedule so didn’t have time to talk about it. Oddly, the fried fish for the above mentioned fries was good. The haddock chowder was not great. An authentic Maine chowder is not thickened with flour, this affects the flavor of the whole thing – it had an off taste. I had to really search for any tiny pieces of fish. The server was nice but hurried, probably busy, and didn’t think to give us a kids menu until we talked about what the kids would have. Overall, it felt impersonal and ‘bum-rushy’. Sorry, but you seem to have good reviews, so probably just an off night.

I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at The Carriage House this fall and WOW, it was such a great experience. The ambiance is fun and down to earth. Definitely not a stuffy, boring coastal restaurant. This place has plenty of character! If you want a unique venue that will still provide you with a professional, efficient, and friendly experience you can’t go wrong with The Carriage House.

We all agreed this was our favorite restaurant on our tour of the Northeast (Maine, Massachusetts, and DC). We loved the food! Our waitress was very sweet. We got crab cakes as an appetizer with ribs and steak as the main dishes. All of the food was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly. The rib meat was falling off the bone. It was perfect!! Thanks, Carriage House, for a wonderful meal!!
