Reviews
Someone mentioned this fast food restaurant in Chandler. We had eaten at the Phoenix location many times and their food was exceptional.
I went through the drive-thru and I asked him if they had a meal with two tacos rice and beans and he said yes but it’s not on the menu. I discovered later that it is on their menu.
I placed my order and asked for no rice and double beans and I asked for green sauce and told them that I could not eat red sauce because of allergies. When I got home I had three containers of red sauce. I’m not sure what they wanted me to do with the red sauce even if I could eat it.
I also ordered half a dozen of flour tortillas and I asked them if they could give me butter with it. The answer was no that I would have to buy individual flour tortillas that they would put in foil and have butter with it. I don’t know why they couldn’t just throw some butter in the bag but that takes a little bit of common sense. On top of that, the flour tortillas were molded
They gave me my receipt which only had a total and it looked like the total was $28 which was way too expensive. I asked for a receipt with the breakdown and they said that their POS system did not offer that but they said there was a receipt on the bag which also did not offer a breakdown the food items that was ordered and what the prices were.
I got home only to discover that there was no rice as requested but they’re also was no double beans. There was also a bunch of lettuce on top of the entree and I cannot eat lettuce as well as tomatoes and tomato products.
I called back and got a person that claimed to be the manager only to find out he was the front end manager which is not what I asked for. He told me they would replace my order and he was going to take my information. A girl then got on the phone and told me they would not replace my order but they would give me the beans and I responded what good is a side order of beans going to do me a week from now when I have time to come back because I’m not just going to eat a container of beans? I found out that that girl was actually a front end employee so why she thought she could override a manager’s decision is beyond me.
She asked me if I wanted to talk to the GM and I said yes. Francisco got on the phone and said that he would coach the girl and that they would replace my order in full. Of course by this time I wasn’t going to eat the food because it been sitting out for at least 30 minutes while I was trying to rectify the situation with Carolinas. The food was cold by then. I also would not eat it because the meal had chicken in it and so it set out for the drive home and at least an additional 30 minutes for the phone conversation with three staff members of Carolinas in Chandler Arizona.
After thinking about it, I do not want my food replaced and I want a refund. Based on the Carolinas in Phoenix, a couple of years ago an acquaintance of mine and I went to the Carolinas in Mesa Arizona and it was definitely not as good as the one in Phoenix.
I see comments that they use the same menu and recipes that they do in Phoenix but that does not mean that everybody can cook like the cooks in Phoenix and the food in Mesa is not acceptable.
Untrained employees and poor customer service at the Chandler location is also not acceptable. That little hole in the wall Carolinas in Phoenix is a great little restaurant. It’s too bad that I live so far away or I would definitely frequent the Phoenix location unless it has gone downhill as well.
I would like to speak with the area manager.
I ordered a pint of beans , twice, and received only a 4 oz portion. When I got home and unpacked everything (I ordered several other items as well), I realized the mistake. I called the restaurant and was told the best they could do was offer another 4 oz because “there are 8 ounces in a pint.” A pint is actually 16 ounces, so that explanation was concerning.
After providing my receipt number, I was told I could come back for more beans if I wanted. That’s not always realistic when dinner is already cooking and I have kids at home. I understand mistakes happen, but it was frustrating to not have the order corrected appropriately.
It may help to have employees read orders back at the window for accuracy and ensure staff are informed on correct portion sizes.
We enjoy this restaurant and hope this feedback helps improve future experiences.
Since they opened in February, I’ve been here three times—and if I’m being honest, I’d eat here every single day if I could. The red chili burrito with cheese? Absolute perfection, bursting with rich, mouthwatering flavor in every bite. It’s the kind of burrito that makes you close your eyes and savor every second. My second visit, I tried the machaca burrito, and wow—it was phenomenal. Tender, flavorful, and wrapped in that signature homemade tortilla that sets Carolina’s apart. On my third visit, we went for tacos, and let me tell you—my kids, who are usually picky eaters, devoured both the beef and chicken tacos so fast they immediately begged to come back for more. That never happens!
The service? Excellent. The food? Unmatched. The convenience of having a drive-thru? Game-changer! I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. No parking? There’s plenty! Small burritos? They are perfectly sized. Bad service? Everyone we encountered was polite and attentive, bringing our food out fresh and hot.
I HIGHLY recommend this place—no, I insist you try it! It absolutely blows every other local restaurant out of the water. If you’re craving the best Mexican food around, look no further. Carolina’s has officially raised the bar, and I’m beyond grateful to have them so close to home!
