It’s October 25th, 2025 and it’s just pouring rain. Accidentally finding a great a BBQ place was perfect. The food is very good. Smoke flavor throughout with sauce on the side just as it should be with Carolina style. Ths portions are worth the price. I ordered the 3 meat dinnern with pulled pork, brisket, and hotlink. All were perfectly cooked. I also ordered cornebread and collared greens for sides. I gotta tell you that I was blown away by the collared greens. Most places cook them down to mush. But these were spot on. The cornbread was moist and served with butter and honey. You cannot go wrong any of their six kinds of sauces either. The staff is knowledgable and friendly so you won’t feel silly asking questions about the menu. Highly recommend checking out this gem.

I placed an order online for pickup, and when I arrived, an employee reviewed the receipt attached to my bag and added an item that was missing. Feeling reassured after this, I didn’t check the bag myself. Unfortunately, when I unpacked the bag upon arriving home, I discovered they had forgotten my coleslaw (the first item on my receipt). In my opinion, coleslaw is essential for barbecue, so this was extremely disappointing and I will not be returning to this establishment.

Food is OK. I purchased the Pulled Pork sandwich with a side. I chose the Bake Beans and added a side of Mac n Cheese with an ice tea to drink. It totaled around $28 plus tip. The sandwich was piled with with a good amount of pork served on a semi-toasted bun, which was also semi-stale. You have a choice of sauces on the table, you may or may not be able to read the labels. Both of my sides looked like something special, they were ok but not very special. You have a choice of sweetened or unsweetened tea I went for a combo of 7/8 unsweetened and an 1/8 sweetened. It was still very sweet so the sweet tea is on par with a true southern sweet tea.
Service is sub-par. The gentleman that greeted me at the counter and took my order was very pleasant and represented the company well. The rest of the staff which seem to include owners or at the very least management couldn’t care less if I was there or down the street. One of the owners(?) was at the counter on my way out and looked at me like I was a bother. Not a thank you, no how was your meal, nothing. Now I know that can sound a bit needy but speaking as a former service industry owner, I’m interacting with my customers or soon I am not going to have very many. This may explain why there were more staff than customers at noon.
Atmosphere is below average. Yes it is a BBQ joint so that does come with a little leeway, but I don’t think the dining room should be used as a storage room. The restaurant itself was not overly dirty and did seem to have some form of cleaning that is performed, but I’m never a fan of filthy entry door glass or for that matter a bathroom door that hasn’t been touched by a cleaning crew in a long while.
Bottomline, will I return?
No, there was nothing craveable or particularly friendly about Carolina Smoke. If you are in the area, which is a BBQ desert, give it a try, the food is ok. But, if you are just passing through, look for your BBQ elsewhere.

Carolina Smoke has always been one of our favorite BBQ restaurants but we have seen a decline in their level of service. Their hours get manually adjusted frequently which is frustrating when you drives a ways to get to them. They also often are out of items and upon my last visit the guy working was rude, made no eye contact and overall didn’t appear to care about our business. We’ll visit a different restaurant next time.

Maybe the food is good. Who knows. It never seems to be open. Closed on Mondays. Other days the say they close at 7pm but if you arrive at 6, they won’t let you eat there (only 2 people right at 6 on a Friday). I’m personally not interested in trying to eat bbq in my car. Don’t waste your time.

I’ve been here for BBQ before and decided to order a smoked turkey for Thanksgiving and it was hands-down the best turkey we’ve ever had. It wasn’t dry, didn’t need any gravy, and it had a fabulous smoked flavor that was just perfect. It 100% made our Thanksgiving dinner one to brag about and I will definitely go here for all my holiday meats.

We had a wonderful first dine in experience. The restaurant is filled with Seahwaks memorabilia and other wall art keeping your eyes busy. Without a doubt, we will need to return during the season to watch a game here.

Haven’t tried the food yet, review is based on service. Guy was rude when we switched from eating there to take (before he started to grab any of the food we switched). Was also rude at the end while handing us our food.
To note, we switched to ordering to go because when we pulled up, he was outside vaping and when he started grabbing silverware he hadn’t washed his hands or put gloves on. He continued to touch food containers, in and out, without gloves – so it felt unsanitary after being outside, touching the door, and touching the register.

Pretty cool bbq place. We got the daily special which was the prime rib sandwich which comes with Anjou and fries for +$3. The meat was a bit cold but the sandwich was tasty and it was a ton of food. We had this for late lunch and couldn’t eat anything more till noon the next day!
The brisket sandwich is a must! It was so tasty, That alone is 5 stars and we got it with Mac and cheese which was also good.
We also tried some interesting ciders.

Our new favorite “Texas style” BBQ N of Seattle. Brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs all tender and juicy. If on carnivoire, this is the place. No sugary marnades..all sauces on side. Owner from S.Carolina and knows his BBQ. Great weekly specials too. We just missed tomorrow’s Gumbo special .. we’ll be back for sure!
