I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with a recent purchase of your Salmon Salad, which I ordered based on the menu description stating it was “salmon on top of a garden salad.”
What I received does not align with that description nor with reasonable customer expectations for a garden salad—particularly at a price point of $26. The salad consisted almost entirely of chopped iceberg lettuce, a single cherry tomato cut in half, and a piece of salmon. There were no additional vegetables typically associated with a garden salad (such as cucumbers, carrots, onions, peppers, or mixed greens).
A garden salad, by definition and common understanding, includes a variety of fresh vegetables—not just lettuce and one tomato. The presentation and portion were extremely underwhelming and felt misleading given the menu wording and cost.

I paid forty five dollars and some change for this food. The lemon cake was good! The salmon was nasty! The sauce or something was spoiled! I just threw it away! I’ll just stick to the location in Largo! Just following the church folks on a meeting after church! I won’t be back.

The food was good and that can not be denied, but the veggie platter portions was horrific. I say horrific becuase I’m used to my normal heaping portions for my sides, as with a normal meat platter. So why give 3 small containers of veggies for a Veggie Platter . Just because we are asking for veggies doesn’t mean we are asking for Carolina Kitchen to downgrade our portions to eat, SMH. For the price we pay for those 3 small containers it just doesn’t equate.

Overall, the food taste and quality is consistent, hence the high rating. I want to rate the crab cake dinner specifically. My rating out of five stars is 1 star. I decided to try the crab cake dinner yesterday. Though a little pricey $49.00, you get two Maryland style lump crab cakes and two sides. Since Carolina Kitchen’s food is typically good, I thought this would be a win. The presentation of the meal was neat and looked inviting. The crab cakes have areas of lump crab meat but really mostly filler. They were fried and the crab cake tasted slightly like grease. The oil the crab cake was cooked in was not fresh oil. A suggestion would be to offer a broiled option for customers. The crab cake tasted like the recipe had “extra Old Bay” seasoning. The Old Bay seasoning was overpowering making the crab cake on the salty side. Overall, I was not pleased with my crab cake choice. However, since I paid $49.00 plus tax, I figured I better eat up! I will not make that meal choice again.

I placed an order for 5 dinners at 1:45pm EST. Maybe a 1/2 hour later, I received a text that my order was ready. I arrived at CK at 2:30pm, and it took about 15 minutes to actually reach the counter to request my order. I was told that they didn’t have enough white meat chicken and had substituted pieces. Since I didn’t request the substitution, the smart aleck staffer told me I would wait 30 minutes for chicken. I requested a refund for the dinner with the substituted pieces of chicken. Another of the staffers claimed that they were having trouble processing the refund since the order was placed via DD. They said it would take 10 minutes. Ten minutes came and went, and that staffer continued to ignore me. I requested to speak to the manager and was told he’d be with me. Then the story turned into the manager being on the roof repairing the air conditioner, and I’d have to wait. By this time, I’d been in CK for about 45 minutes. The staffer who said it would take 10 minutes for the refund had a new story: I’d need to contact DD to request a refund. I said I was leaving with food or a refund. Further, they said it would take an additional 10 minutes for chicken. I didn’t leave until approximately 3:30pm.
I have given CK entirely too many chances. It’s like this nearly every Sunday. Why did I return week after week? For some reason, my elderly family members like CK. I told them today was it. They will have to find another restaurant.
The issue is the not-so-new staff. They have not been properly trained.
I don’t patronize where I’m disrespected. CK will continue to operate in this manner until patrons rise up and demand better.

Today is December 19, 2025. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by what I witnessed at this location today.
Between approximately 3:30–3:45 PM, the employee working at the front of the serving line (near the mashed potatoes, jerk chicken, and rice) dropped a piece of fried chicken. Instead of discarding it, this same employee placed the fried chicken back on the counter and attempted to serve it to the customer in front of me. The customer refused it. The employee then placed the dropped fried chicken into a pan behind the counter, appearing as though it would be thrown away but it was not. Later, the same employee placed that same piece of fried chicken back with the rest of the food.
The same employee also went to the potato salad station and used ice from that area to clean her gloved hands, then returned the ice directly back into the area where the potato salad is kept. This behavior is extremely unsanitary and unacceptable.
I have been a customer here for years, and unfortunately this location seems to fluctuate depending on management. Today’s experience was alarming and unhealthy. I attempted to call the restaurant multiple times afterward to speak with a supervisor, but no one answered the phone.
I did not raise the issue while inside the restaurant because situations like this can escalate unnecessarily. However, I truly hope management reviews the cameras from this time frame and addresses this immediately. This is not just unprofessional it is a serious health concern. I would hate for someone to become ill due to such careless and unsafe practices.
This location needs immediate attention and stronger food safety oversight.
Also, the glass counter top above the food is very dusty and always is. They need to keep that area clean

This is by far the worse CK I’ve been too ( and I’ve been to plenty). The Mac and cheese was terrible. A ball of cheese with few overly cooked noodles. I asked for fried whitening. I’m not sure what type of fish I was given but it was for sure not whitening. The fish was soggy not fried at all and a little under cooked. My cornbread looked like someone stuck their finger nail through it. By far the worse and will never go back. I don’t have a picture because i threw everything in the trash didn’t attempt to take no pictures. But from the other reviews that’s exactly how my food looked.

We stopped here on a suggestion from a business assoc. We ordered the fried whiting meal with greens & yams. My husband ordered the smothered pork chop with Mac & cheese and collard greens. Both meals came with a super delicious cornbread muffin. Both meals were delicious and reasonably priced. No wait and place was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. You stand in line to order your food, which meant no long wait times for our food. Had enough to take home for another meal. Highly recommend this location!

Holy Moly words cannot describe how bad I wanted to tear this down when I got home. I felt like a caveman fiening for food, eating in the car with my hands. Only 18 dollars too, I felt my hope in humanity rise when I saw the lady add another scoop of cheese into that plate.
