I went at the peak of lunch time, noon. The place was nearly empty. Atmosphere was decent. The food, however, was highly disappointing for what I paid.
The fried rice with ham or shrimp was overcooked, had a lot of crunchy grains.
The crab rangoon was 99.9% cream cheese and MAYBE 0.1% crab. The wontons were soggy except for the very tip.
The beef in the broccoli beef was small and gristly.
Sushi is tiny.
Mongolian has some good selections and a lot of options for sauces…but the meat is ground up into tiny pieces, “pre-chewed” (see picture). I like that eggs are included, but I waited for about 10 minutes to get someone to come out from the back to cook it.
Overall a very disappointing experience. I won’t be coming back. There are other similar buffets with much better options for a similar price.

I am very dissatisfied to find that they no longer uphold the standard of de-veining the shrimp. I had been looking forward to visit after a while because any other buffet typically does not clean them! Please, do better. I love your food and want to keep visiting but not if you lie about your shrimp.

$13.33 for lunch AMAZING!!!
Tons of salad choices, huge selection of Chinese food, great abundance of toppings for your Mongolian stir fry bowl! Small section of sushi and desserts.

I’ve been here about three times now. Same experience each time. It’s never too busy and I’m not sure why, their food is on par for local Chinese buffet. It’s as good as anybody else in town I think depending on your preference. Price is definitely on point. Come on out and enjoy. They also have a Mongolian bar that I have not yet tried.

I think this place is great. Me and a couple co-workers have come here a few times. They are on a diet and love the healthy options. I think the Mongolian BBQ is excellent. They give you a sauce bar with different recipes to choose from and you get to make them yourself, which is fun.
I chose the minion sauce the first time and now I have a hard time choosing anything else. This place is great. Definitely my go to Asian buffet. The staff is really friendly.

I’ve been to many buffet restaurants around Salt Lake, and I have to say Carnival Buffet has the best Mongolian Grill. The quality AND quantity of raw ingredients are much better than King or Paradise Buffet’s. Don’t take my words for it, just come and experience yourself.
The rest of the food however, is comparable to other buffet places.

My family and I have been going to the buffet for a long time, and overall I’ve had a very positive experience in the time that I’ve been going here.
The food is always delicious. My favorites are the sushi bar and the Mongolian – my only complaint is that *sometimes* the Mongolian isn’t stocked regularly enough, but that’s to be expected with how popular it’s become.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is good, and the wait staff are always attentive. It can be overly crowded and noisy at times, but that’s just me being nitpicky.
Overall, I recommend this buffet! And happy Chinese New Years for those who celebrate!

I visited Carnival Buffet today after not coming here for a few years, and I’m really glad I did! The food was fresh, flavorful, and there were plenty of options to choose from. The Mongolian grill was excellent — everything was cooked just right and tasted amazing. The service was also great — friendly and attentive from start to finish.
It’s nice to see the place still keeping up its quality after all this time. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon with my family. Highly recommend!

Sushi was probably the best buffet sushi I’ve had the night I went at around 6:00PM. Eel and fish were very fresh. sushi roll did not have too much rice. Good portioning! Their Chinese food is good too. Great value for the price:

My husband and I went here for dinner and we were meeting up with friends and family. Each one paid for themselves. When me and my husband were paying for ourselves, the cashier told us that they were going to charge us the 10% tip for 8 people all though we were only paying for two (plus they already probably charged the 10% tip to our friends and family that came before us) Of course we wouldn’t be sitting at the same table because we wouldn’t have fit, but they insisted we were going to be charged the 10% tip for 8 people because we were “joining them” while sitting at a separate table. I’d suggest you double check what you’re paying for when dinning here. The food isn’t fresh and is stale. Best option is the Mongolia grill.
