Absolutely the best Italian food we have had in years! Veal parmesan, chicken parmesan, crab bisque, bruschetta, crab dip, fresh salmon limone that was the most tender flavorful fillet ever! The salad was filled with a variety of fresh greens and the bread was tender and amazing too! Heard great things about the new owner and our waitress Marissa was so gracious and attentive.

The food is pretty good but the service isn’t. We had a wobbly table, our waitress wasn’t familiar with the menu, and worst of all…they started cleaning up for the night 1 whole hour before closing disrupting our meal.
I have been here before years ago and I remember it being a bit better in all categories.

We stopped by this restaurant after a 9 hour car journey. We received good service, delicious food and a good atmosphere. I highly recommend it to those traveling on I-95!!!

If you are local it’s a 5…but if you’re from anywhere that has classic Italian food…sadly it is a 3 for food.
Service staff, waitress, bartender….all very good 5s.
My Chicken Marsala was tough, cold, with a pasty (flour), too sweet, sauce. Dinning partner had Chicken Parm, tasted, it was excellent. Tender hot chicken, great red sauce. Tasty.
Great real rustic bread, but it was sliced into cubes, looked like croutons. Silverware came from some prison.

I concur with another reviewer, if you are a local it is a 5 star establishment. If you have ate classic Italian food, it’s a 3 star establishment. Carmine’s doesn’t offer tea (sweet/unsweet) as a beverage.
Ordered the mussels. Came out quick, but they were definitely over cooked. I tried hard to love them and continued eating them, but they were really chewy and got stuck in my teeth. I changed my mind ordering the linguine with muscles.
The bread served with them was delicious.
We ordered the veal marsala and split it. It took a while to be delivered to the table but it was worth the wait. The sauce was very good and the veal wasn’t overcooked like I expected after the mussels.
We also ordered the homemade cheesecake. It was delicious.
When we received our check and went to pay with AMEX, it was declined. We didn’t know they didn’t take AMEX and when I looked on the door, it was posted in really small letters with what looked like a label maker.
TL;DR: Pass on the mussels, the veal marsala is good. Homemade cheesecake is delicious!

The service staff was courteous and attentive. I appreciated the generous pour for my glass of red wine. Apart from those highlights, the experience was unremarkable. I ordered the pasta Carbonara that I have enjoyed at other Italian restaurants. This preparation was average, at best, with no discernible character and an overabundance of sauce. For an establishment that promotes itself as authentic Italian, I found the menu presented the obvious choices without creativity. When I paid the bill, I was a bit surprised to note that the restaurant passes to the diner the transaction fee for credit cards. Not what I would expect from a restaurant attempting to operate as a finer dining establishment with the pricing to match.

My wife and I are on our way to Disney for vacation. We stopped in Walterboro, SC for the night. We ended up going to this restaurant for dinner and I’m having serious thoughts of stopping in this town again on the way back just to eat here again. My wife had the lasagna, you can tell the noodles were homemade and the portion was huge. I got a filet Marsala steak special, I just can’t! Best steak I ever had, it was melt in your mouth perfect. I’ve had all the chain steaks, Ruth Chris, Texas Roadhouse, and a ton of family owned and operated. This steak beat them all. I called over our waiter and told him to inform the chef, it was the best steak I ever had. He said he would tell his father. We finished it with a lemon cake and cannoli. It all almost brought a tear to my eye. If you live here you already know of this gem hopefully, if you’re driving through eat here!

Stopped by here off the highway on the way home on Valentine’s Day. The food is great!! The owner will try to accommodate no matter what. Small and cozy, so call and make a reservation. It’s not fast food. Chef prepared and flavors are wonderful. I had fresh salmon. Thank you so much to all who made my night Great!.

Carmine’s Trattoria makes it worth stopping overnight in Walterboro SC. This is the second time I’ve stopped here while traveling. The food is excellent and service impeccable. This time I had the Chicken Limon and Tiramusu. Both were superb!
