Carmelita’s in Calumet is easily a hidden gem I’m glad I stopped at, and honestly, it gave me one of the best burgers I’ve had—definitely top 10 material. The burger was perfectly juicy with a good char on the outside, and the toppings were fresh, adding to the overall quality that you don’t always get with burgers on the road. We chose to eat outside, which made the experience even better since it was a beautiful day, and the outdoor area was clean and comfortable. One thing that stood out was how nice the server was; she made us feel welcome and even came out to give our dogs some treats, which made it clear they’re genuinely dog-friendly. Small gestures like that always make a place memorable. The service was quick without feeling rushed, and you could tell the staff enjoyed being there. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and you can feel that local community vibe, making it a perfect spot to unwind and grab a good meal while exploring Calumet. I’m already looking forward to coming back to try something else on their menu, but it will be hard not to get that burger again because it was genuinely that good. It’s a spot that’s worth a detour if you’re anywhere near the area and want something that feels like a treat while staying affordable and laid-back. Plus, it’s a great place if you’re traveling with dogs, which is a big bonus for me. If you’re passing through Calumet, make sure to add Carmelita’s to your list. It’s the kind of place you’ll remember and want to return to every time you’re in the Keweenaw.

Will definitely be back! Service by Stephanie was amazing. The other server who greeted us was kind and showed excitement. The thimbleberry margarita was worth the hype. But the thimbleberry old fashioned is incredible! The fries 10/10. Queso and guac 10/10. But the pepper jack cheese sticks 40/10. Best cheese sticks I’ve ever had. All around an amazing place. Great atmosphere! Would highly recommend paying them a visit!

Not much open on a Sunday before labor day in Calumet. Men’s room was in need of service. Ladies room had no soap at all. Interior ambiance had a cool vibe blending the cantina type experience with local deer mount trophies and mineral specimens including float copper.
House casa dia was very good. Wet chicken, cheese and bean burrito was ok ish. Served with a side of refried beans and Spanish rice, the conflict with the massive overload of black beans inside the burrito was a tiny bit “off”.
Portion size was too big for lunch anyway. Server was very helpful with local suggestions for things to see

It was ok. Steaks were good so I’m told by the other members of my party. My steak Fajitas were a bit tough and cut a bit large and the peppers were a little too slimy.
Chicken sandwich was good.

Beautiful bar snd dining area, well located in Calumet. Tried various menu items and all were 4-5 star quality. Maybe I’m being picky saying this — food could benefit by a little more Mexican spice. Portions were generous, tasty and fresh. Margaritas excellent. Service was stellar.

This is the second time in a year that my wife’s chicken sandwich has been dry. My beans and rice were better but last time my beans were bad, In June they were sour. I spend some good money there, hoping for better in the future.

The pork in the tacos was.like jerky. The tamales were inedible the beef was dried out and the masa was very thick like corn bread. They boasted 60 different types of tequila but didn’t even have Don Julio

My son and I both had the tacos with regular taco meat. I wasn’t impressed. Corn tortillas fell right apart and the meat was very bland. The chips also tasted like they were store bought and straight out of a bag. The beans and rice were about what you’d expect in a cafeteria.
The table service was good but we did have to wait for quite a bit before we were even acknowledged and then wait to be seated while they looked relatively slow.
I’ll be back to give them another try though so watch for an updated review.
