Carlson’s Drive In, Michigan City Indiana (I came specifically to order the Italian Beef and the pork tenderloin sandwich)
The beef was decent, but they don’t have the ability to offer it dipped. They don’t have true spicy peppers, but rather a pepper that they threw on top of the sandwich. OK in a pinch if you’re looking for general flavoring Italian Beef, but that particular dish is just not their thing.
The pork tenderloin sandwich looks pretty good and it was pretty tasty for a fritter. Decently moist and crisp, with a restaurant atmosphere that contributes to the dining experience.

It is a drive-in / car-hop you pull into parking spot and the servers come to the car to get your order and deliver it on a tray if you’re eating there in the car. They also have some picnic tables to eat at when the weather is nice. I love the ChiliDogs and Root Beer

I went here with a good size group and the staff was completely accommodating. The food was great! I had a chili bun with a burger patty. Fantastic. 10/10. Others had the root beer and thought it was pretty great as well. Overall had a great experience and would definitely go back again.

Fantastic service from a long-standing local drive in. Our server was super nice and shared some of the restaurant’s history with us. The homemade root beer was great, and it was super fun to receive it in frosty glass mugs. If you’re pretty hungry, order a double burger, as the regular one was fairly small. A fun stop on our travels.

Best root beer you’ll ever taste and their fried foods are actually good, the oily feelings isn’t strong at all. I usually hate anything fried, so that’s saying something.

May 2024, Great little place to stop in for lunch. Hot dogs and fries with all the fixings. Homemade Root Beer as well.

quick stop, excellent service! Chicago Dog was spot on. The fried mushrooms were tasty (no dipping sauce needed), perfectly fried and not greasy. Root beer was cold and refreshing (get the Float). only knock is that the float was not soft serve. when I’m back in the area I will be going again!
