A fine westside Carlos O’Kelly’s in Wichita, just south of Ridge and Taft. So many restaurants have popped up around this area over the years, but this classic Tex Mex spot has been around the longest for some tasty good reasons. My latest trip was for a loaded combo of everything that I like best here including their signature chips and salsa, a taco, two types of rice, along with two enchilada types and a burrito covered in their appetizing red sauce. The taco salad was also a hit at the table, while the dining area and waitstaff helped make this another satisfying visit. Overall, I don’t rank the food here at the very top of town because it tends to be bland in many dishes, but I do believe this chain delivers good meals and deserves their lasting history. I can always recommend a trip to this location for well-made Mexican food.

I went there for my birthday in afternoon. Atmosphere was good it wasn’t very busy staff was busy cleaning. Our waitress didn’t come back was very disappointed. I love their chips. And it’s nice that the air conditioner wasn’t blasting. So our food stayed hot. Food was good. Just wish waitress came and checked on us.

To be honest, margaritas are the main reason we go. Chips and salsa are next and the food last.
The menu doesn’t hardly ever change but there are enough varied items to keep eating here.

Carlos O’Kelly’s is always pretty good. I DO love me some queso! It’s cold by the window seat but the warm friendly service more than made up for it.

I was hoping to have the opportunity to eat here. I called First with a few questions and I wasn’t even able to get through to the general manager of the restaurant. The woman who answered the phone refused to give her a name but was nasty to me even when I asked my first question. I did my best to call between the busy lunch time and a busy dinner time but that did not seem to affect her choice not to be friendly or kind or helpful. I asked several times what the name of the general manager is but she refused to give it. I’m not sure what’s going on with corporations today that so many staff believe it is fine to keep public information hidden. If one checks on the internet one can usually find out the general manager or store manager of a corporation. It takes some times a little bit of doing but it is possible most of the time. Therefore, for this information to be withheld from staff is not acceptable. People need to recognize that we are truly living in a world where we need to expect people to be kind and helpful professional and decent to us all the time. Especially when they are representing a corporation and they are being told that they cannot share public information. Why not? Why would this company or the CEO refused to let public information be given over the phone. why is the falsehood being stated that it is for our safety that they don’t give their names when that has nothing to do with it. It is crazy that over the past number of years it is become very common for people to say well I don’t give my name I don’t have to when they work for a corporation. But they do indeed have to give their full name when they work for a corporation because they are representing a corporation and they are to be held liable for what they do or do not do as per their Duty as an employee of the corporation. Unfortunately it seems most people have no clue that they are always to get the full name of the man or woman to whom they’re speaking so they can always hold that man or woman liable for what that man or woman does properly or does not do properly. The only way for any man to be held accountable is not to hide and to give his full name when he is working as a representative of a corporation. If he doesn’t give his full name then he needs to at least give an employee ID so he can be identified. But often today that is even refused. And that was refused by this restaurants staff. I spoke to this woman and she hung up on me and when I called back she didn’t answer the phone. I called back and it rang till it disconnected five times. This is terrible treatment. This is absolutely ridiculous that the CEO of Carlos O’Kelly’s allows his stuff to mistreat people with such hatred and anger and inferiority complex is the CEO of Carlos O’Kelly going to make any changes? Are people going to be required to be professional and friendly and listen and actually help someone when they’re answering the phones or not. why are we as people not demanding that those who answer the phones are truly doing their jobs appropriately? We have to wake up as people and start demanding that others are doing their jobs and when they’re not we need to tell their superiors and even make reviews online so that people know that the staff of a company are not being trained properly to treat people well. Whatever happened with the idea that the customer is always right? Truly you hardly find a company today that believes in that or acts as if that is true. Now today if someone is telling a company about something that went wrong that the company did not do not only does the company staff but also people around often treat that man or woman who is expressing a concern and even upset because something happened to them as if that man reporting is the one who is wrong. I am appalled what are you going to do to change it? This is a question for the CEO of Carlos O’Kelly’s and parent company chairman and every man what are you going to do to change fact we are not getting treatment we deserve? Are you standing for truth?

First off I have to give a huge shout out to the Carlos Crew as they ran a 2/22/22 special on Margaritas tonight and it appeared that everyone in a tri county area decided to go out to eat tonight. So much that they actually reached capacity for the night by 6:30. the staff worked SO hard, everyone was pleasant and helpful even during the pandemonium that was unfolding. Well done! second the food is fabulous. pictured is their signature queso. this is a must have with light and airy chips. Salsa is fresh tasting and so good. I had the Enchilada de Monterey, a pulled chicken stuffed flour tortilla, smothered in pobalano cheese sauce with cilantro lime rice rice and black beans. Stellar! the other dish is Enchilada San Carlos which is 2 enchiladas(pulled chicken) one smothered in a smokey Diablo cream sauce and again the pobalano cream sauce. the Diablo has some heat, lots of mesquite flavor, and is just amazing. try this local favorite
