What BLEW OUR MINDS when we walked in was, “Smoking or nonsmoking?” Huh!?!
A Great place, food, people and prices! Although the patty melt was lacking the fabulous sauce they normally have on them, things were great. Our waitress was fabulous! Failed to get her name. We were there Sunday night, 12/14/25.

Our first time here. The food was a solid 3.5 stars. The poor waitress was the only one working the dining room. We wanted more fish, paid for the all you can eat, but she didn’t have time to check on us. They don’t bring it to you family style, it’s piece meal and a long wait to get more. If we come back, we will not order all you can eat.

We were stuck between choosing this restaurant and a chain one , we prefer mom and pop places like this over chain restaurants. Went with this one. As for quality of food, quantity of food and the price we paid per person. Amazing!!! About $11 per person. We had 10 people in our group, basically 6 adults(2 older teens that truly believe their grown )and 4 kiddos. My husband hasn’t had Okra that good in a while. He was ecstatic about the quantity as well. The 16yr old kept going on about how the grilled cheese was bussin bussin . He also said it doesn’t beat memas, but it’s close lol. The 15yr old loved his BLT, said they have the good bacon lol. He also enjoyed the fried mushrooms, said they cooked them perfect mom. My tenderloin was great as well. Not sure if they’re from a distributor, or if you tenderize them yourself. If you do them yourselves double high five is in order!! The chicken my cousin said had good flavor, was still juicy! My fried green beans, and the sauce… perfect. Not sure if I tasted a hint of mayo, or just hallucinating lol. But the sauce was great. Would definitely like to try that sauce on a cheeseburger!! Only negative thing we have to say about this restaurant was the waitress. I felt bad since it was just her and 1 cook. I also don’t know if she was having a bad day before we came in, maybe the cook and her were just having a rough day. I’ve been a server before, and I get it! I am truly hoping she’s just having an off day. Some items weren’t on the menu, which is completely fine and understandable! We’re pretty go with the flow type of family. We made different choices. She just seemed like she was put off having to take our order, and since we had to take a moment to change it to something else. She was just a bit rude and off putting. She came back out after we ordered to tell us they were out of one of the things we ordered(again completely ok) when my sister in law told her she’d just take what my husband ordered she sighed like it was our fault she had to redo the order. My cousin wanted to cancel the order at that point, but even she said they may have already put food on, so we stayed. While we waited for our food to come(didn’t wait long!) She had a few Togo orders called in and another gentleman arrived for a meal. She was super sweet and nice to them. We were truly confused. The nicest she was to us was when we were leaving. We still tipped, we usually do 25% and round up. She would have got a $30 tip. But we have a rule about rude servers etc. You still get a tip, but the bare minimum. 10%. So she received $11. I truly hope she isn’t like this most days. My sister in law(love her to death) is 99% of the time baked off her rear. Even she was surprised when she seemed upset about having to retake her order. She asked me what did I do, she told me she was out of it. Even with that all being said we are still happy, full, and enjoyed our time with family. Would still definitely recommend this restaurant. My parents and us have a competition about trying new little restaurants like this. See who can get there first lol. They are coming down here monday for the week, and we are going to send them your way!! I truly hope today was an off day! My favorite little saying is “a smile is the only curve that sets things straight” from Phyllis Diller. I hope whatever was going on today, possibly one of our smiles changed her mood a bit. My youngest was crying and emotional today at the beginning, and your waitress still did great with a hangry child. That said child was super disappointed there wasn’t any candy to buy , as a parent thank you for being out .

The service and food was great and the prices were very reasonable! I would love to say we will be back, however, since smoking is allowed inside, we won’t be.
To the owners: Please consider not allowing smoking even if you don’t mind it yourself. Many people find it disgusting while trying to eat and any business you lose will be more than made up for in the future.

After a day of hiking at many of the incredible trails in the area this place is perfect for high quality home cooked meal. It is like going to that one house in the neighborhood as much as you could because your friend’s mom was by far the best cook. We ordered 6 different meals for our party and not one complaint everyone very happy with their food. Always best to support those local businesses as well. For some folks not use to it there is a smoking section, just a heads up – we did not notice it once we were on the other side of the restaurant.

This place is awesome! We went to the nearby Johnson Shut-ins and stopped here after for food and we were pleasantly surprised. The food is great and the prices are fair, the staff is really friendly and they have plenty of seating. They do allow smoking which we aren’t used to being from a busier town in Illinois, but it isn’t a deal breaker for how great everything else is. If you’re in the area and you don’t stop by, you’re really missing out.

Food was good, and our server was really welcoming and nice. Food came very quickly- was even surprised how fast it came. Good portion sizes, and a kids menu. There is street parking, and the restaurant is split for half smoking half non-smoking.
