The tacos I was less impressed by. I loved the greens and freshness on the ceviche tostada, but could taste that the trout was ‘t super fresh.
The birria tacos was good: the consume excellent. I found it rather heavy for my taste though.
The pickled onions and carrots were a lovely treat at the end.
We also feel the service isn’t quite as strong as it used to be. On our recent visit, we ordered nachos explicitly as a starter and tacos as mains, but our mains arrived halfway through our starter. As it’s a cramped restaurant (they’ve added more tables recently), we struggled to squeeze everything on our table, and by the time we finished the nachos, the tacos had gone cold.
There were a couple other things like no one checked in on us or asked if we wanted to order second drinks. Also, my partner wanted to treat me to this meal, but the server said the total out loud and showed it to both of us, which felt a little in poor style.
Lastly, as of the last year or so, guacamole is no longer included on the nachos and has actually been removed from all menu items, which is a real shame!
Firstly it was sooo busy, we had been crammed in there and could hardly hear ourselves think.
Everyone was super friendly but the service wasn’t great in terms of checking in, it took an hour for our food to arrive and when it did it was pretty underwhelming, nothing to write home a about, our waitress didn’t know what one of the tacos was and said she’d come back to let us know but never did.
For 20pp for the veggie sharing tacos I wouldn’t suggest you get this, it’s very minimal and bland.
Only reason it’s not 5* is the price. I ordered a chicken burrito and paid £4 extra for a large and £1.50 for sour cream. £15.40 for one burrito is expensive in my book.
I actually checked with one of the chefs behind the counter if it was in fact a large because (as can be seen by the photo) it certainly wasn’t massive.
Excellent quality food which is the most important thing, just the portions are a bit off for me. Had the size I ordered been the £9.90, it would’ve been on the small side but perfectly acceptable compared to competitors, especially considering the quality
Anyway, go, great food!
Update 2025: Went back here with the same friends and had an even better time. We had the share platter and it was super tasty… so much food and so well done. The staff were also super attentive. Have upped my ratings to 5.
