Its been over 2 years since I visited this restaurant and I must say some things have changed but especially not the quality or portion of food. The conch fritters were great, simple batter and dipping sauce was okay. I ordered the combo platter (oxtails and jerk chicken), yummy. I could only eat half so i ate the chicken and save the oxtails for later ( those who love this place know why i saved the oxtails for last. Also,I added more scotch bonnet hot sauce to everything because I like a things a little spicy (you have to ask server for any hot sauces). Rum punches were okay, I did have to add an extra shot for a kick. The waitress was very attentive and accommodating
Note: This place is always busy and parking can be a pain sometimes… so “To Go/carryout ” is popular. Overall, food worth the price and I was a satisfied and full customer.

So I’m here for work this week. I wanted some oxtails (Jamaican food). I looked up this place and was very skeptical. I looked on diner dine in n drives guy from food network video of his visit. He made it seem like the food was amazing
The cabbage was crunchy not even cooked to add bland with no flavor. The oxtails made my stomach hurt….they were not so tender as guy stated. Ruff to me, the gravy was not the least Jamaican but yet soul food gravy …thought I was eating some tough stew beef n rice for moment. I got combination plate of jerk chicken with ox tails. The worst ever for me by far. Don’t waist your coins here. The jerk chicken was average but no so good bc they put oxtail gravy on top …price was too cheap for something. $18 for combo an I normally pay $28 or better for plate. I should have knew better. An a lot of customer traffic for what tho. I must have ordered the wrong thing bc this place is not it… ♀️ ♀️ ♀️ ♀️

We had lunch on their patio and everything was perfect! The chicken soup was hearty and flavorful! The oxtails and curry chicken were tender and flavorful! Our waitress was attentive and friendly! Highly recommend!

I love Carena’s, but the wait for the food can be quite lengthy at times. Great food and nice atmosphere. Great prices for the food. However, they are nickel and dimers. They charge extra for every side condiment you request.

Simply amazing. Bibi our waitress was awesome. We started with the jerk wings and they were amazing. I got the combo platter with oxtail and island fried chicken. My son got the shrimp pasta and my mom got the jerk chicken. Every meal was delicious. Can’t go wrong highly recommend this place.

I asked for extra gravy on my curry vegetable which I did not get. The cashier made sure she put it on the order when it was initially ordered so it was on my ticket 2xs. I took it back and the manager was rude. I was told o could get gravy separately and he blatantly wouldn’t let me so I got a refund and one of the cooks said bumbaclaat and basically cursed at me and the manager did nothing. All he was saying was that my order was too much, when it clearly has extra gravy as an option on the menu. He and the cook needs a 101 on professional behavior and how to pay attention to an order when it says extra gravy!

I did a walk up carryout order. I had never been here before. It was quite busy, and it took a moment before I was acknowledged. I ordered and the food was ready quickly. The goat curry was really tasty and a bit spicy but not too much. I really liked the cabbage too.

I won’t lie, I was a bit skeptical when I walked in and saw how cute this place was because cute restaurants and good Jamaican food don’t usually go together but I couldn’t have been more wrong!!! My mom came and she has yet to be impressed by any other Jamaican restaurant I’ve hyped up but she was definitely impressed here which is saying a lottttt! That ginger in gravy on the fried chicken! Honestly, great food, nice restaurant and the price was incredibly affordable! My only disappointment is that we live so far away! Let us know if you open a spot in northern VA!!!

The kitchen ran out of several menu options by 7pm on a Saturday night. I appreciate the fact that the food is obviously homemade rather than freeze and thaw, but someone didn’t plan well. This isn’t the first time this has happened. If I want to go out with friends for an evening and show up and pasta is my option at a Jamaican restaurant, I’m not coming back. The courtesy of their staff is also very hit or miss these days.

Hands downs the most delicious place to eat in the central VA area! The oxtail is magnificent, the coco bread is delightful, and the fruit punch is packed with flavor. Run dont walk to this place. I will admit, the parking can be difficult, but it is worth it. Some of the best things in life make you work for them.
