We visited this restaurant expecting a great experience based on the atmosphere, which initially seemed promising. The service was quick, and our food arrived surprisingly fast, but unfortunately, that may have been part of the issue.
The food itself was underwhelming across the board. The rice didn’t taste or even look freshly made; it had a processed, almost artificial quality. The chicken dishes and kids’ tenders were average at best, lacking flavor. While the fries were enjoyable, that’s not exactly a strong highlight since fries are hard to get wrong.
The salad also seemed less than fresh, and overall, the dishes lacked seasoning and depth. Everything tasted quite bland, which was disappointing given the setting.
The drink menu was fairly limited, mostly centered around wine, with not much variety beyond that (this is obviously a taste thing. I know some people would be happy with this selection).
The staff also seemed a little confused with orders; we had waiters come over to our table twice with orders that weren’t ours.
Overall, the ambiance sets expectations that the food unfortunately doesn’t meet. That’s why it was quite surprising that it was busy (people coming in and out continuously). Maybe there’s something we’re missing.

Great old school thin Portuguese beef! Not many restaurants serve the thin cut Portuguese beefs nowadays.. The gravy is great especially with extra garlic… the waitresses are great..

Easy location to get to. We drive down from Somerville to shop at the Portuguese markets and buy items that just aren’t available up here. So while we’re down here we always dine at a Portuguese restaurant, and Caravela is now my favorite. The staff is awesome, we were seated right away (party of 5) we were immediately greeted by our server, she was awesome, knowledgeable, and so friendly. the food is excellent we had a variety of dishes and the were all delicious, and very plentiful, nobody in our party were able to finish the entire dish. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming, the staff works so well as a team, and all of our dishes were delivered at the same time. The prices were very reasonable, this tells me they are about serving great food and building a great customer base. If you are in the Fall River, I highly recommend Caravela Family Restaurant.

Every time I have been the food is so good! Some of the best Portuguese soup I ever had! Sometimes there is a wait but trust me, it’s very much worth the wait! The prices are more than fair! The food is delicious!

Outstanding Portuguese food coupled with excellent service. I’ve only sampled take-out and catered food from this restaurant, but every time, it’s been delicious. The addition of fresh baked Portuguese rolls with your order is a big plus. The inside of the restaurant is quite busy, but the food appears to come out quickly. Plenty of Portuguese and English speaking hosts and servers who are all very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended for their catered food trays. They make an event easy and affordable to fees a multitude. Special attention to the exceptional Flan for dessert.

Weird for a restaurant to close at 8pm. Saw people come in at 7:45pm and still seated. Good sign when you have people waiting outside standing up. Waited 30 minutes to be seated with the wait. Worth waiting to try Portuguese food. The food came out quick and the staff was pleasant. Tried the Chourico appetizer, Steak plate and pork loin. Enjoyed a glass of Red Sangria. I’m a fry fan! Fries are fresh cut and were crisp!

What a wonderful place!! Our waitress was the best I wish I remembered her name to many$ sangria lol. She was great in her 50s if I had to guess, she was the best. Was there today at 2. The food was so delicious and you must try the Peach sangria. We had watermelon and peach. The surf and turf was yummy and large portions. The food was awesome. I swear it came out in under 6 mins. Surf and Turf (portugese style) was enough for two with a large, thin steak, 5 shrimp, white rice, 2 eggs and a large portion of fries for $23. The atmosphere is relaxed and kinda loud like a local eatery would be. The staff is fast, courteous and efficient. Great place to eat!!!!
