Casual fine dining on Dauphin Island. Freshly sourced Gulf Seafood using local vendors. Beef and Chicken purchased from Greer’s Grocery. Produce from local farms (when available). We cook it when you order it. Fresh is always the best! Come enjoy a cold beverage, fabulous food and a beautiful view
Buffalo shrimp, crab cakes & hushpuppies are the draw at this down-home, mellow clam shack.

Reviews on Google were mostly good and the photos looked great, so we decided to try it. We ordered shrimp and grits, kids fish and fries, and kids shrimp and fries.
I’m always skeptical of shrimp and grits because some places do them well and others miss the mark. The shrimp was flavorful and the grits had a nice smoky taste, but the dish didn’t quite come together. Something felt like it was missing to make it more cohesive. The cheese on top may have worked better melted throughout the grits instead and a sauce to bring both items together. The dish came with a side and I got the salad, but there are other options.
The kids meals were tasty, but the fish portion was small. I’d recommend adding another piece of fish and offering a vegetable alongside the fries for a healthier option.
The restaurant itself feels dated and could use updating. The table covers had fold marks, some lights weren’t working, and the space felt a little cluttered and dusty. It would benefit from a refresh to feel brighter and more inviting.
The best part was the service. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and even anticipated our needs. The employees here deserve a remodeled space and a fresh start because this place has the potential to be on another level.
Overall we were satisfied, but when I went to eat the leftover shrimp and grits a couple hours later, the grits had developed a sour taste, which was very off-putting.

The place was a little empty when I came. I was seated right away without any issues. The waitress was very patient with me as I figured out what I wanted to get. The oysters looked small at first to me, but they were absolutely a good size and definitely delicious. I had the trigger fish grilled. I haven’t had trigger before, and it was pretty good. I would definitely get more. The wait time for food was about the length it should have been (the time it takes to cook food), so no complaints on wait time or anything. I came in the off season, but everything seemed good.

Phenomenal!! Best crab legs I’ve ever had no exaggeration. Cooked to perfection. The coleslaw, fried shrimp, sweet tea, the list goes on. Our waitress was the sweetest! Ask for Bonita, you come in a tourist, you leave feeling like family. She took the best care of us! We will be back very very soon!

Okay stopped in this location on dauphin Island today mid afternoon.. just a few people inside.. friendly workers. Clean establishment.. restroom was okay.. No booths multiple tables decently spread out. There was room for a wheelchair or a walker to be easily navigable. It seemed to have had a separated bar area or what appeared to be a bar area from the main dining area.. I purchased a hamburger. The hamburger came out correct just as I had requested. Fairly decent in size. French fries were included they seemed to be similar in flavor to checkers or rally fries.. however for the price it did seem to be a very small portion of fries. The food was hot. The waitress came and topped my drink off I was never without drink. No music of any kind ..No ruckus crowd. The seating did have some large windows along the wall that faced Mobile Bay with some decent views. If I was in the area again I would stop in.. A drink a very small fry and a good size burger we’re roughly $20 for one person.

This place was amazing! Our server was really friendly and attentive, checked on us multiple times! But the smoked fish dip was SOOOO good!! My husband really enjoyed their shrimp and grits as well. And the crab legs were even better! They may have been about 50 dollars, but you get a pound and a half of grade A, huge, juicy crab legs, and they’re so incredibly tasty and fresh!! I cannot recommend this place enough! I want to go again already, just for the crab legs!! If you couldn’t tell but the damage I did in the picture ☺️

Such a great experience at Capt’n Snappers! The crab claws were incredible and there is really something special seeing a mother and daughter working together here. You can feel the teamwork and pride they bring to the place. Bri behind the bar is friendly, professional, and makes great drinks, and her mother is just as sweet and bubbly! Together they create such a welcoming, positive atmosphere.
Great food, great drinks, and great service!!!

This was my families first time staying on Daulphine Island and made the mistake of ordering from here. We looked at the menu on Google and saw the pictures and the food looked good so we decided to go with it. First off, the fees that are charged are outrageous. I understand charging the credit card fee because they can’t help that. But they charged a 29$ to go fee, added automatic gratuity but then forgot to put a side of coleslaw in the bag and the food was not good. My order totaled 170$. Over 50$ of it were tax, automatic gratuity and to go fees. This is a tourist trap. I paid 25$ PLUS 10$ to substitute for a soft shell crab and I dont know where they are getting their crab but see the attached picture. It was not edible. There was no meat. It was like a small, crab like thing soaked in a huge amount of butter. Would not recommend. Skip this place.

We ate here for dinner. If we had eaten here earlier in our trip I think we would have tried it again. We had buffalo shrimp for an appetizer and it was sooo good! It was very large breaded shrimp covered in buffalo sauce. We both liked it, but it does come with tails on. I had the main grouper fish dish and it was very good. My husband had the seafood Alfredo. He was disappointed in the size of the shrimp and the lack of noticeable other seafood in the dish, but he did say it tasted good.
Our service was great. We even got to meet Captain Snapper himself! He was sitting in the bar area!
FYI: They do not have a patio, so it is not pet friendly.
