I photographed a wedding at Captain’s Inn and loved the relaxed, coastal vibe of the venue. The waterfront setting is beautiful for portraits, especially during golden hour, with boats and the marina creating a unique backdrop. The reception space has a fun, laid-back atmosphere that perfectly fits a summer celebration. The staff was friendly and organized, making the day flow smoothly for everyone. A great choice for couples who want a breezy, waterfront wedding with plenty of character.

I frequented Captain’s Inn throughout my life and always thought it was a great restaurant. I was disappointed with my visit yesterday. The seafood tastes like Sysco frozen food. It didn’t appear to be fresh. Calms casino- mushy & watery. Scallops- small and tasted like low tide. Grouper- riddle with bones and certainly not herb crusted. Many people in the party I was with did not finish their meals even though the portions were small… Just not the Captains in that I remember and enjoyed.

Great place. Great service. Awesome atmosphere by the inlet to watch boats etc. menu did not say it was an option but I got 2 crab cakes. They were great. Lots of crab and not much filler.

I’ve visited for both private events and dining in the restaurant. Every experience has been high quality. During our recent visit for a wedding, the staff was helpful and knowledgeable regarding allergens. They were able to provide a gluten free dinner (salad, salmon, and pasta), and it was delicious! Would definitely recommend.

Food was great and service was great. The oysters were decent but good value & this was the best crab cake I have ever had period. My main issue here is that the main building which has a bigger seating is totally different from the tiki bar which is across the road. They should have two separate places with the tiki bar being separate as it’s literally across the road. The tiki bar seems more fun but I don’t know because I went to the main restaurant. The main building seemed to be occupied by the local retirees and I felt totally out of place here.

Beautiful location next to the bay and marina in Forked River NJ. The French onion soup was delicious. They had a prime rib buffet all you could eat, which was a great deal. The red snapper over mediterranean salad was tasty.

I would reconsider using another restaurant if you’re having a buffet. It’s very dated and dirty. The ladies room was gross. I went there for a repast last week. The place smelled like bait when I walked in. It was a buffet and the food was just horrid. I was embarrassed for my relative. The only thing that was good was the cold draft beer. There was some kind of dinner special going on near the main bar with a carving station that NOT look appetizing. There was hardly anyone there and the carver said it cost like $50 per person! This place needs a competent chef and a spitshine!

We frequent this restaurant because it is consistently good! The crab cakes are the best out of anywhere I’ve ever had… East Coast and further; love them on the garden salad. Highly recommend. Good service, friendly atmosphere, great staff.

We just left an early Saturday dinner at Captain’s Inn and all I can say is WOW! From the warm greeting by Becky J to the delicious food our experience was top notch. Becky was a great waitress throughout the whole meal.
We had red mussels, Manhattan clam chowder, she crab bisque, chicken parm, and sauteed soft shell crabs. It was a delicious feast with large portions. If they’re in season, don’t sleep on the soft shell crabs!
We will be back and hope to have Becky as our waitress!
