This place serves the best catfish and shrimp I’ve found in the El Cajon area. I’ve been to two of their locations, both of them located inside convenience stores / liquor stores. If they just had a sit down restaurant, it would be perfect! I always eat in my vehicle since it would take me 15-20 minutes to get home and I was to eat while it’s hot and fresh.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Captain Sam’s, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish! The catfish was absolutely delicious—perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. The shrimp were equally impressive, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The fries were golden and crispy, a great side that complemented everything. As for the chicken wings, they were seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of crispiness.
What truly made the meal unforgettable was the service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, creating the perfect dining environment. Got the 2 piece cod. The breading came right off the fish when I touched it. The fish was dry and slhad no seasoning. Even the hot sauce tasted gross. And their tartar sauce was in a packet n gross. Won’t be going here again.

Ordered their fried chicken on Uber Eats and it was so good and seasoned well! The chicken was still hot and crunchy when it was delivered. I’ve tried both Chicago style with the hot sauce on it and the regular hard fried with extra lemon pepper. Both so good. Definitely a must try!
