At our Rosenberg, TX location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My husband was craving fried fish on a Sunday and his favorite place was closed. We googled Seafood and found this home cooked gem! All the food was hot and fresh and tasted like someone’s grandma was cooking in the kitchen. From the workers at the counter to the men in the back, everyone was courteous and friendly during our visit. We all had to get to go boxes because they give you such large portions. Thanks again!

The food was fabulous. Really enjoyed my shrimp and fish with okra. I have sensitivities from surviving cancer and it’s hard to find take-out food that I can eat. This was enjoyable and tasted great!

Stopped by at 9:40pm, 20 minutes before scheduled closing, and the doors were locked with the open sign blazing. I figured they just closed the lobby, so I went through the drive thru and they said they were closed already. I told them that it said they closed at 10, and she said they’re short staffed. They have only one person in the front and one in the back. That tells me there’s a cook that knows how to fry 3 pieces of fish. And even if they didn’t have a cook, the manager should know. But I guess they decide to close when they want, regardless of what is listed on their own drive-thru speaker and online.

I went through the drive through and after they read back my order, I had to correct them. I heard the guy at the register call out the correction, watched as they changed the price before charging my card and they STILL gave me the wrong order.

The only Captain D’s near me without going to Alvin or Katy. There used to be one in Stafford next to the Walmart on W. Airport & 59. I was totally bummed when it closed. Ergo, this Rosenberg location better stay put until the Lord’s Second Coming! Anyway, I had an obsessive craving for Captain D’s exquisitely made fish and hush puppies, so here I am! The drive thru was fast even though it was lunch time. Try coming here during Lent. Oh Lawdy!

At 9:15 I was told they were out of chicken for the day. Then they locked the doors and made everyone go to drive through.
The cook was the one running the show apparently.

5/28/2025 4-stars: have been eating here recently and both times they’ve forgotten the sour cream and butter for the potato, and also the cocktail sauce this time. Both times it’s been the same person at the window. Still good food, but frustrating that I can’t trust my order and will need to inspect. Was going well for awhile until recently.
2024 4-stars: Good food. Didn’t include the butter or sour cream that comes with the regular potatoe which is annoying. Always something slightly wrong with the order
Was not a fan of the Garlic and Herb shrimp. It tasted like thanksgiving stuffing.

They were quite short staffed, which forced them to close this location’s dining room entirely. Drive thru service was slow as a result.
