At our Cedar Hill, TX location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The first time our food was given to us, it was obvious that it was not fresh after I had already told the young lady that I don’t mind waiting on fresh food. She was kind at the front register, but I’m here for good food.
Stuffed crabs -mushy and greasy
Battered fish -hard fried on outside/ undercooked and pink inside
Hush puppies- crumbly
Fried Shrimp- old/ dried out/ overcooked
Mac and cheese- cold/ like it was poured out a bag
French fries- cold/ hard/ greasy (twice dipped when I advised the first time food was not fresh)
I am highly disappointed and wasted my money. Food should’ve been made correctly the first time, and even after being kind and patient, it was still not right after second remake.

I know you have probably been at Captin D’s before. It has been years for me. The fish is just like i like it/remember it. Staff is friendy and helpful. It’s not great but it is good and fast.

We ordered a family meal thinking it would at least cover the family. Fries were undercooked and was about 30% less than four servings. Should have had 6 pieces of chicken. Two pieces were half the size of the others and one was the size of a fingernail. The broccoli was about a serving and a half. It wasn’t an accident because you cant even put 4 servings in the cup

I ordered fish dinner with well done okra. I get my order, the okra is green and slimy. I heard her tell him well done. The young lady said no problem he can remake it well done. She asked him to remake it. The cook said it’s green okra is supposed to be green. Yes it is I told him; prior to frying it is green. Can you please cook it crispy the coating was literally white? He said something under his breath I didn’t understand. The young lady was said “he’ll remake it” but if I have to have a less than pleasant exchange with the cook I’m definitely not eating anything they cook for me. Sadly, the cook may be the manager since he had to come out of the kitchen and give the refund.I opted for a refund and left with the same empty stomach I arrived with. Fortunately for her the young lady was enjoying lunch while working. Just a little cross contamination over the food containers she opens while using the same hands her half bitten food was in, eating right over the containers. Not okay .I couldn’t even place an order to go back to work. Please train the employees on the importance of customer service, proper food handling and common sense. It could have and should been a much better customer experience .

just so so so incredibly slow currently have been sitting behind the car at window for 15 minutes, they’re parked and i am parked and i haven’t seen a peep out the window the entire time back here. i usually end up spending like 20+ minutes in line here even when there are like 2-3 cars in line

This restaurant stands out as one of the cleanest establishments in Dallas County. The customer service was exceptional, and the young chef demonstrated a high level of professionalism, presenting the food on the to-go plate with the finesse typically seen in a five-star restaurant. Thank you for delivering such outstanding service.

It’s hard to determine if they are open are not. Went today, well after opening time and sat at the drive thru- no one ever showed up. Doors were also locked no sign on the door or window. Second time this has happened! Won’t be a third.

Every time I’ve taken the time to leave the Austin area and drive 2 hours and get some Captain D’s, one of my most favorite memories as a kid, it has failed me. The fish is not Cod, like it was in the 90s when Captain D’s was amazing, it’s Alaskan pollock and to be honest they’re not the same, the owner is clearly cutting corners and should be reported to corporate which don’t worry I will do because places where I’m from do not serve this garbage……

Over 15 years since I ate a Cap D’s for the last time. I went today and still great. Food is great and still tasty. Good service and in decent time. Still one of my fav’s. I don’t get people wanting high expectations with a fast food restaurant. If you not happy, go somewhere else.
