At our Arnold, MO location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The food is always really good and I was excited when they reopened. It’s my once a week treat. Unfortunately they ordered the wrong straws for large cups when they reopened. They’re way too short and the cups are almost taller than the straws. You have to drink from the cup with the lid off and they’re not designed to be drank from the side. They bend from the weight of the soda. It’s hard when you’re eating lunch in your car. Now I have soda all over my seat and I get to go back to work with soda on me. I eat there about once a week. I ask for a different straw every time but they just say they don’t have any because they ordered wrong. They know it’s an issue but it’s obviously being ignored. It’s been a couple months and they still haven’t fixed it. I know it seems like a minor inconvenience but It’s very frustrating. Especially now that there’s a huge mess. With as much as a large soda costs they could at least include a straw that you can actually use.

I want to give a shout out to Brittany. She was working the front, drive thur, and the register all alone ,on Wednesday, during lent. It was crazy busy and she held it together like a boss!! Fantastic customer service.

Captain D’s stands as a personal favorite in the realm of fast food. Their battered fish, served with a side of hush puppies, slaw, and fries, never fails to arrive hot and delicious, maintaining the quality that has come to be expected. The meals, besides being flavorful, also prove to be reasonable in terms of pricing. I would visit more often but many times when I visit the STL locations for dinner, the dining rooms are closed. Today’s visit for dinner in Arnold went well with the dining room being open and the employees being very friendly and helpful.

We got there after a rush the boss man was working to refill everything busting his butt, it is so nice to see someone who actually works and doesn’t sit around and make everyone else do it. Great job food is great customer service is also

Took 30 mins in the drive thru. I ended up going inside to find out what was going on. The young guy at the window was very nice and apologized for the wait. The one that appeared to be the manger blue polo shirt and big nose ring had a comment to say what he thought was under his breath but I heard it. I’m glad you guys finally reopened but his costume skills will drive away the business.

Most the food was good but the pickle chips were over cooked, tiny, and the portion was ridiculously small… the side of fries was also too small for how much we were charged for the meal… dine in was closed at 7pm? Maybe understaffed? I don’t know a lot about technology but when this occurs maybe have your website set to not allow in restaurant pickup. We startled the young employee when we entered through an unlocked door unknowing that the lobby was closed… she was nice and gave us free drinks though… just feel shorted on the portions and quality of those pickle chips and fries!! Prices are high overall here. Won’t be back anytime soon…

Great Staff; Terrible Food

Visited on a Saturday afternoon in November, at about 3:45. The fish was terribly dry, and the fish fillets were more like fish sticks (you can see from the photo that I posted, with a French fry for comparison, that I’m not exaggerating). The fillet was only slightly larger than the fry. The hush puppies, while good, are the size of a small chicken nugget. The clam strips were very good, but the butterfly shrimp were cold. The devilled crabs were smashed and the shell of one was broken, leaving bits of shell in each bite.

While Captain D’s used to be “a great little seafood place,” this visit left me wanting! It was really a very poor experience, and I didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth.

Edit: As I was posting this review, the manager Brenda walked by me, and entered the washroom. I heard her belt buckle, and the flush, but no water from the sink and after just a quick moment, she returned to the front line… (For what it’s worth)

Fish is hard to find. We can get 2 meals for well under $30. It’s always good, even tho captain d’s and long John’s seem to be closing like crazy everywhere else. Butterfly shrimp is a good addition and is delicious.

Back open since the tornado. The dining room had a remodel. And looks very nice. The food was good. And the employees are very friendly. And welcoming when you enter.
