Captain D’s has won me over, especially this particular location, which has become a favorite since my last review two years ago. While I initially ranked it slightly below Long John Silver’s, my opinion has shifted. In the past, I’d suggest bringing a coupon for a hefty discount, but their coupon game has changed. Now, it’s a bit hit or miss, but fear not – they’ve introduced in-store specials and value deals that match up well.
Captain D’s is heavily promoting a new app, something I wished for in my previous review. I’ll delve into it soon and update you on what I discover. Granted, fast-food apps don’t always impress right off the bat, but here’s hoping Captain D’s breaks the trend.
This spot is an exception among fast-food joints; I actually prefer dining in. Fried fish doesn’t travel well, and the dining experience here is consistently enjoyable, even when flying solo. It’s almost a guarantee that I’ll strike up a friendly conversation with an elderly diner – there’s a comforting, welcoming vibe that makes patrons of all ages feel at home.
When I first reviewed this place during the pandemic, staffing issues affected their hours, but those seem to be sorted now. The staff is friendly, and the dining area is well-maintained.
The star of any meal here remains the hush puppies. They’re some of the best I’ve ever had – crispy outside, soft and light inside, with delicate bits of onions throughout. While I’m not a huge fan of their coleslaw (Long John Silver’s takes the cake for me), that’s just a personal preference.
I spent my high school years being a rowdy, less-than-ideal customer of the long-gone Pizza Hut across the road from this Captain D’s. Now, I find myself praising how peaceful and welcoming this place is, especially to older diners like myself. Give it a shot; you might be pleasantly surprised!

This place is ran like garbage! More than once I’ve sat in the drive thru for 10-15 minutes being completely ignored, while they’re not even busy. I think they hope you’ll just drive off and go away. The food isn’t bad, but they have no idea what they’re doing. Whoever owns this place needs to get the workers in check before your business fails.

It was a trip down memory lane for my husband who grew up in Grove City. First time for the rest of us. Collectively, we tried a good bit of the menu items and overall, it was a good fish and chips place, although I thought some things were on the salty side. My daughter said the fries were perfect (evenly cooked, crisp outside, soft inside), and the chicken was also ranked pretty high on her list. The fish was very good whitefish. The atmosphere was classic seaside style. Friendly workers. Great prices.

Food’s great! Fish is too greasy though but I guess you have that same problem with Long. John silver’s the chicken’s the best thing from them and the spicy fish is the best fish from them. However, it’s all pretty decent but it is what it is. Fun fact, I don’t even like fish unless it’s like processed and fried and doesn’t taste super fishy
