At our Somerset, KY location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

One of the best places to eat in somerset. Food is always delicious. Their okra and broccoli are the best cooked vegetables in town, and we have eaten at all the restaurants that have these items. If you are looking for a great tasting meal this is the place to go. Their fish is always cooked just perfect. We actually like all their item.

We drove over a hour and stop here for dinner on Dec 12th Friday about 4 pm 430pm And we do this at least once a month Always Have been good But Today it wasn’t at all. WE WALK IN AND WAS NOT GREETED FRIENDLY AT ALL THE WOMENS NAME WHO WAIT ON US WAS Misty Think last name on tag said Grover not sure She was a blond hair lady With a blue shirt over her black shirt .She didn’t smile was not friendly at all Like we was use to by everyone in past visits there .We got our Food went to set down to Find A Long dark Hair Bake in to my Hush puppy Took it back up they to Show same lady And she reaches over on plate takes the puppy off and gives me my plate back When I said I want a whole new plate of food this one has hair in it She looked at me as if I was a horrible person And then says fine you throw this all away then Orders me another one then walks over to another worker and talks about me And I can hear her no problem I took my food and set down The lady at next table says We made her mad cause we had to take our fish back it wasn’t cooked all the way.. and I said that lady is rude and the other people at the other table said same thing .Then we all agreed None of us have ever had a bad dining experience here It was Just this one lady who was so rude After this evening and how we got done Iam not sure my family will ever go back again. FUNNY HOW ONE WORKER OR MANAGER CAN MAKE PEOPLE NOT WANT TO COME BACK BECAUSE WHO THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. ..I truly Hope If that lady sees this review She will change her ways and how she treats her customers Iam sure she wouldn’t of wanted hair in her food .. REST OF STAFF WAS NICE AND PLACE WAS CLEAN ..

The food is better than expected for a fast food restaurant. Everything is always cooked just right when we visit. The senior meals also come with a drink. I had the new garlic and herb shrimp. It had a very mild garlic flavor and would be good dipped in butter.

Really good food! Southern style menu. Friendly staff. Clean dining area with a maritime theme. A little more expensive than most fast food nearby, but well worth it. Try the chicken and fish combo. Plan on spending $20 to $30 for 2 people.

I’ve always loved Captain D’s. This location has been hot and fresh every time I’ve visited and the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is they’ve changed the type of fish used in the fried dinners and its not the delicious mild white fish I’ve come to know and love. I hope they go back to the original fish and charge a higher price if that’s why they changed, was the cost. The new fish has somewhat of a dirty tasty but is still very mild.

Just didn’t care for the food. I had chicken. I didn’t care for the flavor. The fries were not hot they were kind of yuck. She didn’t give me the correct price and I didn’t look at my receipt until after I left.

I think that Captain D’s has found a way to price themselves out of the market. The food tasted perfectly fine, and it was cooked very well also. This particular location has been closed to dine in customers for a while. Now that the dining room is open again I visited for my usual fish and fried clams, but they were out of clams. I was immediately shocked when they asked for the payment, but thought that every business had had to raise prices. Then a few minutes later they delivered my food. I was shocked again to find that the fish is now half the size it used to be. So they’ve almost doubled the price for half the food…
