At our Bristol, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My first time going through drive thru. The fish was excellent! Breaded just right. A huge baked potato, Cole slaw, hush puppies. Well worth the money. Will definitely go again.

We were impressed with this location of Captain D’s and felt there could be one major improvement by adding a diaper changing table in the men’s bathroom. We went on Friday, January 2 at noon.

Pros
They were very accommodating of our children. The bathrooms and tables were all clean, and they had everything we needed in terms of food and real bottles of malt vinegar. The employees were friendly, and the food was hot and fresh.

Recommendations
Our biggest complaint was that there wasn’t a diaper changing table in the men’s bathroom. My husband took our son into the men’s bathroom to change his diaper, But since there was no diaper changing table in the men’s bathroom, I needed to stop cleaning up our older children and the table and eating my own food to take our baby into the women’s bathroom where there was a diaper changing table. We would love also some non-sugary soda options, like soda water at least. But we don’t let our kids drink sugary soda, so when we got them kids meals it just felt like a big waste of money.

I have also frequent this restaurant quite a bit. Love the fish and the sides dishes. Although I can not eat the shrimp and crab like I use to, the other items on the menu are very delicious.

Fish is tough, more breading than fish these days. Staff are not very friendly. Would suggest when on the phone with a customer that the employee should say goodbye and hang up before talking with the manager and coworkers negatively about the customer and hanging up rudely. DO NOT GO HERE, save your money and the stress!

update: Hi Captain D! Thanks for the reach out. I wasn’t unhappy. You’re a fast food joint and delivered exactly that. This is a clean location with kind staff serving hot off fryer food.

D for dank. It is fried and delivered hot. And the people are nice here, they get the stars. Spicy seafood platter is indeed not spicy. The fish is good and so is the slaw. The stuffed crab shell is real, the imitation crab meat is not. 75¢ up charge for premium sides like okra.

There interior is update, however there is only 1 plug in the seating area (in the back corner) how is that? Floor was dirty, employees were pleasant. There is something about their hush puppies. I guess going to cap d when I was young was a treat. We were dirt poor and going here was like we struck gold. Thought we were big time. What did I know about seafood.

Try to call to place a large order for pick up this afternoon and no one would pick up the phone after an hour of trying. When someone finally did answer the phone and immediately sounded like they put me on hold without saying anything. Waited for about five minutes And then hung up and tried calling back and went straight to voicemail. It has gone to voicemail every time I call for the last hour. Finally gave up and ordered somewhere else.

Found a hair baked into my hush puppy! Food was horrible and portions were for children while the price was outrageous! Called about the experience and was assured I would get my money back. Said the main manager would call the next day. A week later I called to check in and the main manager was rude and unprofessional. She said she couldn’t give me my money back, and didn’t know who told me that. She said so I could only get gift cards to eat at the same nasty restaurant, no thank you! Kept arguing with me and being condescending toward me. I finally hung up and called corporate and they mailed me a visa gift card. Will never eat at this location again. Things have gone downhill since Mr. Pepper sold the place.
