At our Spring Hill, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I want to start and say this place does have amazing food, and occasionally good service (depends on who serves you.) But who I think is the general manager or claims to be, is constantly hacking up a lung all over the customer’s food or when she isn’t spreading germs directly onto our food she just refuses to wash her hands. I have stopped by a few times recently and each time I have yet once witnessed her wash her hands after coughing all over them. Even if that wasn’t the problem (which obviously it is) I have wanted to bring my niece along for some good food as she loves seafood but I refuse to whenever that manager is there as she always reeks of nicotine and booze. The nicotine is passable as we all get stressed from time to time, but showing up to work as the general manager smelling of alcohol is completely unacceptable. So until that changes I unfortunately will not bring my niece, and for my own health will probably not be coming any longer.

We decided to pop in and check this place out and see what Captain D’s is all about. I have to give it a 5 star rating. We had the 2 piece fish and the Giant Fish Sandwich. Everything was so good. The hush puppies were amazing! Cooked really well and the fish was great as well. The Okra was a little soft and soggy. I just don’t think it was quite fried long enough but close and the flavor was really good. The restaurant only has 5 tables but the entire place was super clean and well stocked as you can see in the photos. The manager came around and checked on everyone and that is not expected from a fast food place so I have to give them extra points for that. Overall it was an excellent experience. I would really recommend this place if you’re in the area and need a meal on the run.

We tried Captain D’s for the first time today. I did not have too high of hopes for this place and I’m glad I didn’t. It was an okay experience. Really nothing about the meal was a big deal.
We ordered the Seafood Feast and the Lobster Rolls. The Seafood Feast offers a great variety and enough food to easily feed 4-6 people. Plus the price is great!
Unfortunately there was a lot to be desired with all of it except the fish and hush puppies, which was the best of the meal. There is a lot of breading on the fish but the flavor was good. The shrimp was bland, crunchy breading but lacking seasoning. Fries were very soft so we put then into our air fryer to crisp up. I felt the stuffed crab was very odd. I honestly got a hint of cinnamon and clove that made it taste like a savory spiced donut. It was strange and not enjoyable. The macaroni and cheese was mushy, not very flavorful, my father actually spit his bite out. The lobster rolls are small however for less than $5 what do you expect? Most lobster rolls have large lump meat not a shredded lobster salad, but they also cost $16+. You get what you pay for. I didn’t enjoy the flavor very much but I’m glad I tried it.
Overall it was okay. It was nice to try something different other than pizza or chinese. We enjoyed the fish and that’s what this place is about so that’s a plus.

Today was my 4th time there. Had the Cajun fish sandwich and it was quite big. But still prefer the lobster rolls.

Been eating here 3 nights in a row. My favorite still is the lobster rolls but last night I had the seafood gumbo and it was tasty. Going back for more tonight.
The hush puppies are better than most places. Not greasy and if they’re frozen, they don’t appear to be.

Surprising, the lobster rolls were very good. And you can’t beat the combo at $7.49. I ordered 2 combo’s not realizing one combo of 2 lobster rolls would fill me up. Very impressive.

We used to order from here a couple times a month but won’t be anymore. The service just keeps getting worse and worse, they are SO slow! Even being the only car in the drive thru and ordering ahead online, it still takes them 15+ minutes to make 3 fast food meals. And they changed their chicken tenders, they do not even taste the same. They have a complete different breading and taste exactly like the fish They also weren’t cooked thoroughly this time. Not sure what happened or why they’d change them but they’re awful..

Forget those big fancy restaurants. Captain D’s is awesome. Wide variety of seafood choices that will not break your budget. I just wish they had a larger dinning area.

Very quiet and we were the only ones in there for a while. The food was hot and fresh, the front end attendant was nice. The only negative thing I had noticed was for it to not be as busy at that time, someone should have atleast come to clean the table tops. There was food crumbs on most of them.

Great service! Personally, I found the food tasteless. Nice crunch just no flavor to the shrimp or fish. The hush puppies needed a little sweet for me.

We placed an order online, almost $50 .. all the fried food looked like it turned out great, but Ican eat that so we specially ordered grilled tilapia with no season which half of the files was missing and the rest was crispy burnt. They closed at 8pm it says, and there is no phone number to reach them. My husband sent an email. We are very upset with this experience

Not bad. Fast food fish joint that has other options than just fried fish. Lots of side choices too. Had the whitefish and shrimp. Was ok. Wasn’t bad. For a quick dinner it was ok for my 1st time. I’d go back to try other stuff. Guy behind the counter was great. Should have got his name. Asked me 3 times if everything was OK, and took our trash. Good guy. Also has some powdered sugar on my tray, we didn’t order anything with that. So that was concerning at first till we figured out what it was. And our plates had some grease and seasoning stuck to the bottom, so had to wash up after. Other than than that, ok food, ok place. Looked clean.
