At our Lake City, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I stopped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised. The service was spot on and very helpful. I ordered the fish sandwich and a piece of fish on the side. The sandwich and side fish came out quick, tasted fresh and I enjoyed it for what it was; lunch. I plan on returning and enjoying another lunch in the future… you should too.

The restaurant is very clean and the tables are comfortable but the decor is a bit dated and the interior feels like you stepped back to the 80’s. The food took a bit to get out and it was decent for the money but nothing to make you wanna come back unless you have a strong desire for deep fried shrimp and fish. The hush puppies were surprisingly moist and well done. Usually they are dry and hard. The shrimps are cooked to completion but the near carboard texture of the breading takes away from the taste. The shrimp has been in a freezer for a while which causes the meat to get tough after you cook it. The fish was much better but one side was a bit dark. About 20 seconds less in the fryer and it would have been perfect. The drinks are a bit warm out of the fountain so use the pound of ice they put in the cup for you, you’ll need it. They stayed pretty consistent but no heavy lunch mob to overwhelm the one counter person they had operating the entire front. Parking is free and plentiful so no need to fret about finding a spot. The bathrooms are clean just as the rest of the restaurant appears. The staff is doing a good job keeping things clean and pretty but the food is getting smaller and freshness has left the building. For a quick meal to satiate a seafood craving they will do the trick but it’s not a high quality restaurant and they don’t try to be one.

Natori and Amelia was awesome for me and my fiance. We came in at 8:20 pm on a Thursday and cleaning up and the customer service was out of the Window. Very Great for Lake City Florida

Stop in for lunch every so often and food is always cooked to order. Very reasonably priced for fast food seafood and service is always good. Great job Paige!! You’re a hard worker and a kind person. Keep up the good work.

Aaliyah was very unprofessional and rude, smart mouth , rolled her eyes all because she didn’t pay attention to what I asked for, quick to smart off, what happened to trying to deescalate a situation, good customer service. I hope to never be treated that way in a public place. I hope the owner sees this and at least retraining can be done on customer service

1/31/23 I placed an order inside but I wasn’t asked if it was for here or take out. They assumed it was to go they fixed my plate as if it was a kids meal the fries were cold only gave me 7 fries yes I counted them the cole slaw was okay the fish was warm and the hush puppies were warm as well. The food overall was horrible it was not worth $14 I do not recommend Captain D’s

We haven’t been to Captain D’s in years or ever been to this particular location, but returning from vacation the wife has asking to stop; and was quite the surprise with the quality of the food has improved even more. We really enjoyed the experience and left fat as ticks, only regret we don’t have a location in West Texas where we live but we always stop at any location we can find between Texas and Florida. Until the next trip have a great day.

Really like to use Captain D’s coupons once or twice a month, usually no lines inside & does not take too long before one’s order is ready. Courteous and patient staff most of the time. Ample seating capacity and very attractive prices, though, somewhat limited on kids meals & desserts
