At our Columbia, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I had a really great visit to Captain D’s recently thanks to Ericka. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and was very attentive as I placed my order. She was friendly, helpful, and made me feel welcome — she even offered suggestions when I asked what to order. My food came out quickly and exactly as requested. Overall, Ericka’s positive attitude and professionalism made the experience enjoyable; I would definitely return and ask for her again.

This is what happens when your night crew staff is careless and slack!!! First I get to the window and I waited for 10 minutes before they took my money. After paying, I waited even longer! I had to go in to get my food because all I saw through the window was the two female employees cleaning up and walking to the back kitchen as if I was not waiting on anything. The least they could have done is let me know that it is a little wait on my order! Instead they are cleaning up with spray bottles when they should be awaiting my food!! I get home and of course it’s a DISGUSTING PIECE OF TISSUE ATTACHED TO MY BAKED POTATOE!! This is unacceptable!!

This is the worst. I waited in the drive thru for about 10 minutes to be served. No one responded. There were vehicles in front of me, so I’m assuming the speaker is broken. I got to the window and proceeded to give my order. I asked about the speaker and she didn’t respond. After I paid and sat at the window for about 3 minutes, the cashier told me to park and wait for my meal. I parked and talked on the phone while waiting. 10 minutes passed and no one came out. I went inside and asked for a refund. The cook came from the back and asked for my receipt. Then stated she was making my food. She had no hairnet and there seems to not be a manager on staff. I asked for a sweet tea for my inconvenience and the young lady gave me an unsweetened tea. The food was nasty and instead of butterfly shrimp I got popcorn shrimp.

First every time I come to this restaurant I have to wait 30 minutes or more. This is a fast food place so that means food should be being cooked most of the day not cooked to order. I got my order today after waiting almost 40 minutes it wasn’t hot and I got 3 pieces for my 4 piece meal and almost all of my sides were wrong. If it’s going to take over 30 minutes I’d expect the order to be right when I receive it.

Great deals for $4.99. Food was hot except for my broccoli. No starter sauce was in the pump but Erica brought some to the table along with vinegar and butter which we also needed. I also visited the restroom and it was clean. The restaurant was very busy but we did not have to wait long for our order to be taken or our food to come.

I don’t remember the last time I regretted eating somewhere that fast.
I was looking for somewhere to get lunch, and I didn’t feel like eating at Fazoli’s again, do I decided to try out Captain D’s. At first, everything seemed fine. The interior looks nice, the staff was friendly and my food came out pretty quick. Lemonade was out, but those things happen so nothing against them there. Everything tasted pretty good too. It was nice and hot, and the fish was pretty good.
But then I found the pile of deep fried bread bits underneath my fish. The picture really doesn’t do it justice. There was alot. Being the idiot I was, I started eating forkfulls of it, loving it.
But then my stomach realized how greasy it was. I saw the puddles on my plate. Each bite made me feel worse and worse, to the point I was trying to pull the fish off its breading with my bare hands so I wouldn’t have to eat it. I the fries were too salty and left salt sticking to my fingers with the grease. I couldn’t finish it all. I made sure to wash my hands before I left, and I had to have some Tums when I made it home.

This was one of the best Captain D’s experiences we’ve ever had! Even though it was busy on Friday evening when we arrived, the two ladies running the front were calm, friendly, and incredibly quick.
Their professionalism and great attitude made the visit so enjoyable. They are truly a huge asset to this restaurant!

The drive through is slow and I mean really slow BUT the staff are friendly and funny. Also, the fish is gonna be good every time. I simply had the two peice batter dipped fish and shrimp. It came with fries and coleslaw and wasn’t bad at all. Everything was hot and fresh. The fish and shrimp were crispy but not dried out and the Captain D’s flavor is good to me. If you have the time to wait and you are craving “fast food (sarcasm)” fish, this is always an option.
