At our Columbia, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The customer service here is the pits. The woman with the red hair who served us had no enthusiasm and for this to be a seafood restaurant I would imagine that the server would know what type of fish was being served.
I know it’s be a long time since I visited a Captain D’s, but I swear the fish they served use to look like fish as opposed to fish sticks. The flavor of the fish was bland as well. The hush puppies had no sweetness to them. More on the savory side. I’m not sure if that’s the way they’re suppose to taste or not but ultimately they weren’t tasty at all.
I don’t think I’ll be a returning customer.

Messed up food order by putting the catfish in with the shrimp in spite of the fact that they were going to to separate destinations. I had to hand it back to them to put them in two separate containers. I won’t mention the cross-contamination with the catfish and shrimp. The catfish was like 3 kids size chicken stripe. It was very slow coming out and didn’t put plenty of tartar sauce in bag as requested. We ordered an additional side order of hushpuppies and didn’t even get them despite PAYING for them. Lastly, the way everything was put in the bag had the contents flipped over and sliding throughout the bag. Extremely disappointing experience. We may never go to another one because of it.

Was told to pull to front of store for my drive thru order. After waiting 22 minutes I went inside and asked for a refund. The worker got the manager who simply suggested I wait for the order to be made then. Not an acceptable solution. I won’t be back.

Captain D’s has went way way way down in quality of food, preparation, and service!!!! The fish has changed, shrimp has changed, crab has changed!!!! Everything you get there is greasy now!!! Terrible food and terrible restaurant!!!!!

I went to the location on 11/12/25 the customer service was HORRIBLE I asked the cashier in the window for corporate number she said I don’t know it Goggle it. At this point I don’t want the food or nothing she came back to the window with the food I told her I don’t want it I want my money back and I need to see the manager. She open the window back and said my manager said just come in I told her tell your manager I ain’t come inside to order so I’m mother’s g out my car to come in to speak with him. He finally came to the window don’t ask any questions or what happen just said you want corporate number right and walked off. If these people don’t wanna work why have them in your establishment they really making it hard for customers to even wanna return. I can surely tell you I won’t be returning

It’s Saturday August 23 and My husband and I just wanted to thank you guys for a good experience we’ve been spending a lot of money eating out. Including some fast food places it’s been horrible. But tonight we had to pull up a minute no a long wait. and she said we want to make it right and that they did the food was GOOD. Surprisingly good quality for fast food! Reasonably priced. I had been purchasing the Tackle BOX at Popeyes- I was receiving mixed answers: Discontinued; out of stock, etc- especially late in evening- THEY WERE LAZY AND LYING! Only two things kept me loyal to Popeyes: RED beans & Rice : Biscuits-
On one occasion the biscuits were rancid(old shortening or oil); the kicker was the recipe change in beans & rice. All to save $$$$-they taste worse now than frozen alternative!! This was the ultimate dealbreaker!! I will never dine again at POPEYES- their inconsistent customer service; crowded; and errors in orders- TOO EXPENSIVE TO WASTE MONEY on poor service & food! Captain D’s 100%

I haven’t eaten from Captain D’s in years so, we decided to stop after moving to Columbia. We ordered two advertised specials. We had to pull up as they completed our food. I threw one crab cake away because it was too hard to eat but the rest of the food was good.

Budget Southern seafood cafeteria. Delicious fried fish, crab cakes, shrimp and hush puppies! Five sauces and malt vinegar available; combo meals starting at $5 with 2 sides included, like a well made cole slaw; and for an extra 39¢, you can get a corn on-the-cob or a baked potato! Plenty of parking and a drive-thru! Only downside is the music, piped in hip-hop from 104.7 FM, if it bothers you, take it to go! You can call-in an order to go, or to skip the line to stay! Recommended!
I come here often, as the food is delicious and a great value! This is an update: The piped in 104.7 hip-hop is gone, but now there is no music at all! Oh well, beware what you wish for! Now if they could only get a CD player playing Classic Rock (like Ruby Tuesday) I added 3 pics of the interior.

The service is very poor and the employees that they have working there are not very coordinated for example me James as a customer came to order there and said my order very clear but when it was time for me to get the food that I order back it was given to me completely wrong and I didn’t realize until I got all the way home
