At our Cayce, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

This is my spot. When I go in they ask if it’s done in or take out. I always say I’m going to dine-in at there fine establishment. They remember me for that. The food is always hot. Staff is friendly, and always available.

Shrinkflation is a mug. The fish strips are literally half the size the used to be. It honestly looks like they cut the original strips in half lengthwise in order to make two filets out of one.

2/21/25, 7 pm. Usually good experiences. Been coming to this location for decades. But tonight, it took exactly one hour from taking my order to being served. Inexperienced servers and busy when I arrived but not overly slammed. Everyone who came before and after me had eaten and left except 1 couple and a family, all by the time I took my first bite. The 2 servers argued about who messed up. Hard to say if I’ll return to this restaurant. I feel let down. Ordered deluxe crab platter and oysters. Definitely the longest time I’ve ever spent inside of a Captain D’s.

The fried shrimp were golden and juicy, not greasy, and had that classic crunch you hope for. And the hush puppies? Pillowy, savory, and slightly sweet—exactly what you’d want to round out a seafood feast.
Service was quick and friendly, and the food came out hot and fresh. For a fast-casual spot, Captain D’s really nailed the flavor and quality. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re craving seafood with a Southern twist!

Service horrible never any clean tables and floor is really dirty. Food is not fresh at all. There is no team work the girl at the front fronter didn’t want to clean tables when she asked the girl in the back the girl said they “the customers can clean it they self”.

The food isn’t bad and it is quick. Service is good. I do wish the meal prices included a drink. They advertise a meal for less than $5, but that isn’t the case once a drink is added. They remodeled this location not too long ago and it really does look so much nicee.
