At our Murphy, NC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I’m a huge fan of Captain D’s unfortunately there’s not one near my home in Alabama so when I’m out of town, I usually drop by for some cod fish. Excellent, friendly and hospitable customer service. Nissa, the cashier, was amazing. I know all she had to do was take my order, but she had a smile on her face from the time I walked in, until leaving. She was so friendly! The cod and fries were made to order, hot and really good. Thanks for the outstanding service.

We are out of town and stopped here for a quick lunch and we’re surprised by how good the food was. It took them a minute to cook but our food was hot, fresh and full of flavor. The fish was perfectly cooked and breaded. They blow Long John Silver out of the water. If you want some good fish for a low price and made quickly…highly recommend checking out this spot.

I’ve been driving all day and just wasn’t in my head, I accidentally ordered the wrong meal and caught it late but I tried to say it was okay but the lady told the cooks to change it and they did I ended up forgetting my keys on the front bench at the registry too too and the and she let me know. The food was very delicious. Everything was nice and crispy and the sweet tea was really good to.

We are here visiting from another state wanted to try Captain D’s. To my surprise their batter is very similar to Long John Silver. I recommend trying them, hot & fresh. Service was friendly with a handful of Southern hospitality.

I have been treated here by people I was with many times but this time I came here on a spur of the moment decision. I had planned on eating elsewhere but plans changed as they often do. I came in around four thirty pm in the afternoon of Saturday the twenty third day of the month of November in the year two thousand and twenty four. It was busy but there was still comfortable parking and my favorite corner booth was available. All of the staff were friendly and had positive vibes. There was a holiday feel as if I was in a Christmas movie. My cashier Ellen demonstrated top tier customer service. She delivered the level of excellence in customer service that I would associate with a home town diner but that is often missing from such types of joints nowadays. She smiled, asked me about my day, went above and beyond to explain and help me find the right options, told me her name and asked mine then gave me sides of cocktail sauce when i asked. The place was clean and the food was as excellent as it has always been. The five dollar and ninety nine cent combo that included fries, two melt in your mouth hushpuppies, fish and shrimp proved to be an amazing amount of food for a reasonable price. Corporate, give this staff a raise! I would also like to add that after I had written this initial review while sitting in my booth I went into the bathroom and it was clean. The one thing that stuck out was it actually had an unscratched mirror that I could use to check my look without having to squint past scratches like I usually do at all the other restaurants whose bathrooms contain mirrors that are so old and damaged that they should be removed. It just shows that this place is a true down home family joint. One of the best places in the area to eat. To finish off an amazing dining experience, as I was walking to my vehicle I received a friendly wave from an associate who was out walking to the dumpster and his friendliness seemed genuine. This place is the real deal. 10 out of 10

Came into the restaurant close to closing, but the friendly and hard-working staff welcomed us in, assuring us there was plenty of time to eat. The restaurant was clean, music was great, atmosphere very comfortable, bathrooms were clean, service was quick and efficient, And the food was excellent. Wish we had one closer to home, but next time we’re in town, this will be one of our favorites. Thanks, y’all!

Everyone was seemed happy and polite. Service was excellent. 30 minutes after I had eaten clams, fish, coleslaw, tartar sauce, green beans, I threw up all that I had previously ate. I was sick the rest of the day. I would say this was just a fluke, but this is the second time I have eaten at Captain D’s and threw up. I don’t know if I’m allergic to something or if it’s just something I don’t want to know about.

Love Captain D’s food, despise the restaurant. Every surface is at least kind of sticky, they blare the most gods-awful; repetitive music of all time everytime im there, & there’s a horrible smell I simply can’t place… Definitely get your food to-go.

Just a heads up … The corn on the cob no longer comes on a wooden stick. It was very messy and hard to eat. Otherwise, a good experience.

Tilapia was barely cooked and a strange consistency. Kitchen acted very irritated when I asked for another piece. Haven’t been back since.
