At our Dunbar, WV location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Take a good look at this lobster rolls platter from captain d’s because it’ll probably be the last time I get a lobster roll from Captain D’s because earlier today the dough on this lobster roll was too chewy. Fries could be a in the fryer for a little bit longer by the way. Captain D’s.

This was a below normal experience. Did the drive through ordered chicken got fish, had to go back. I am allergic to sea food. This has happened twice at this place. But 2 times in 32 years of living here is a really not bad, no one is perfect.

Good food. Some platters are a little expensive.. We always do carry out. Sometimes they a little slow. Food has always been fresh and hot. Not crazy about new breading on the new fish. Clean. Little awkward getting in and out of parking lot. Employees are very friendly. Lots of choices for the sides. My husband doesnt like seafood but he loves their fish with the old breading.

Wait time was crazy, and I’m a laid back guy anyways, the manager came to the window and explained the crab that come with the meal they didn’t have but they had crab patties they was so awful I wish they would have kept the crabs. they also shorted my order so I just let my wife go back and deal with it hopefully it’s a temporary thing but it’s Pace continues I don’t see it lasting long…

While traveling my 3 year old picked Captain D’s to eat over McDonald’s! This place did not disappoint Super friendly staff especially Jackie, whom my daughter quickly made friends with. Just so happened it was Jackie’s birthday & my little one even sang Happy Birthday to her!! Usually my daughter does NOT like strangers but she took to Jackie instantly. The food was perfect & fast! The funnel fries are to die for! We craved them the entire week we were gone. The restaurant was clean & comfortable we stayed well over an hour during our visit. Highly recommend

The food is great! The tartar sauce is perfect, not sweet. The choice of sides is amazing for fastfood: baked potato, corn on the cob, okra, fries, cole slaw and more. I’ve been enjoying the crab cake, fish and butterfly shrimp plate for $5.99, comes with hushpuppies and 2 sides.
The kids meals are great! For $3.99 you get an entree like fish, popcorn shrimp or chicken and choice of 2 sides with a drink.
The dining room has been open which i really appreciate.
Everything tastes great and the service is good.

Was in the drive-thru with two cars in front of me. 10 minutes before the first one pulled around and another 8 before the next, then after pulling up and being asked to wait it took 6 minutes to finally be able to order. I could barely hear the woman on the speaker and when I ordered something I always get I’m told one second and she’s gone for three minutes. When I was done ordering I was not asked if I wanted sauces nor was I when I got up to the window and when I asked the lady seemed confused and then after waiting for 10 minutes for the food she forgot the sauce and had to go back and get it. I would have left of I wasn’t getting food for someone else.

Staff is mostly drug addicts and last time I was there the woman running the show couldn’t hold still enough to take orders. She was horrible at her job and had zero people skills at the window. The customers ended up screaming their orders at her.

Manager was rude in answering a question about availability of an item that showed on their website and they are always slow, but outside of that the food is usually always good. Captain D’s has tried too hard to become “upscale”. You’re fast food. Don’t try to church it up too much. Keep it simple.

My wife and I stopped in this little town to get lunch and gas on our way back home to Vienna, Virginia. As we turned off the main road we saw Captain D’s Fish House. We entered the restaurant and immediately, Alana welcomed us. We ordered our food and she totaled our order. Then she saw my Navy hat and remarked that I deserved a veteran discount. When our food came it was hot and delicious. Fish and chicken fillets, fried shrimp, hush puppies, French fries and broccoli were all cooked to perfection and so crispy and tasty. We will definately be back. Thank you all for your hospitality.
