I like the comfortable and huge dining room at Captain Crab Seafood Restaurant in Elk Grove. They have one of the biggest dining rooms for the type of boiling seafood restaurant in the Sacramento area. However, I wish the favor could be a little stronger on their boiling seafood. I have the Cajun seasoning with medium spicy. It hardly tasted of any seasoning at all. It is very little spicy as well. So you may want to order flaming hot or volcano if you like spicy seafood. The Cajun fries don’t taste with enough seasoning as well. The service is slow, considering not too many customers dine in at the time.

We ordered medium spicy and ended up with extra hot afterwards.
Even than it wasn’t as spicy but it was good with Cajun seasoning.
We went on a Tuesday night, made reservation which really wasn’t necessary because the place was very empty. But I’m sure weekends are pretty busy. So call ahead. They do take reservations.

Excellent dungeon is crab, clean, and warm when I received it. my only issue is I ordered it with garlic butter, and all I tasted was just butter no garlic. But I have to say they have reasonable prices for the amount of crab potato and corn that you get. I was not a fan of the potato or corn. I wish they had an option to leave that out that way it would not be wasted.. The corn taste like it was frozen, and the potato had no flavor. But I ordered from there for the crab, so I’m happy.
I also ordered the seafood pasta, not a lot of flavor there it tasted mostly like Pepper and it was pretty dry. They left the shell on the shrimp. I’m not a big fan of peeling off shell when I’m trying to eat pasta.

A solid three star rating experience. I thought it was a tasty casual seafood dining restaurant. The food was good and flavorful, the service stellar. The restaurant itself gives off an early hospital cafeteria vibe, but that did not stop me from enjoying the food at all. I will be going back, repeatedly in sure.
Update: They have gotten more decorative, and it absolutely doesn’t feel like a hospital cafeteria anymore 🙂

Decided to try Captain Crab since we live nearby. The food was OK. We got the combo with crab, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potato. I like that the shrimp were de-veined. That’s rare for any crab boil place. Our bag had a lot of sausage, unlike other places. We also got the captain platter. It comes with chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, and fried mushrooms. They were all OK. Nothing really stood out, and I wondered why it’s called a captain platter when there is no kind of seafood anything on it.
Overall, everything is decent, but nothing extraordinary. The portions for the price were good though.

This was a very pleasant surprise!! I was very impressed by the food. We went on Father’s day, because my spouse wanted oysters (which were fresh and delicious!) We were not planning on ordering much besides the oysters and a few appetizers, but once we saw they had a Father’s day special which consisted of 1 lb of king crab, 1lb of crab, and 2 lbs of your choice of additional seafood items (I dont remember all the selections) but we got 1lb of shrimp, and 1lb of green mussels, and a dessert, (we got chocolate cake) All for under $140, we could not pass it up!!! They were very busy this day, but even with that, the service was fast and highly satisfactory! Everything was delicious, and will definitely be coming back!

Captain Crab’s Mother’s Day menu exceeded our expectations. The cuisine was delectable, and our server, Kitty, provided attentive and pleasant service. The wait time for our meals was reasonable, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. Considering the current state of the economy, the value we received was exceptional.
