I went to Capriotti’s again because let’s face it. They have some tasty recipes. But this company has really lost their way!
I ordered a medium Cole Turkey and chips. The bread tasted old. I told the girl who seemed to be managing the place that the bread tasted old and asked if they bake their own bread. She told me “No. We received it frozen every two weeks from Las Vegas.” Really? How is that in any way more economical or higher quality than a local bakery? There isn’t a single bakery in all of Salt Lake County that could bake bread for them? Basically, the franchisor wants to make money off of the bread. Even if it means losing customers.
Capriotti’s is supposed to be a high quality sandwich. A few years ago, it was a high quality sandwich. Now, they put more Cole slaw than meat and use old bread.
I have enclosed a photo of the sandwich cut open.
My advice, pass and go somewhere else.

Okay, so I saw the advertisements from Capriotti’s advertising 25% more meat. Honestly, I did not plan on going back because there was so little meat on the sandwiches the last time I went there.
As you can see from the photos, there is not much meat on the sandwich. Yes, it is more meat than before. But honestly, it is nothing like when I first went to Capriotti’s years ago. With all of the inflation, I’m sure they are trying to find ways to keep the price down. Also, they probably do not want to reduce their profit margin. Consequently, they no longer have a standout sandwich.
The photos they use in their advertising have the bread smashed to make it look like they have more meat in relation to the bread. But when they first opened their store, they used to take out some of the bread because there was so much meat!
The people working at the store are fantastic! The atmosphere is really nice. Overall, it is a solid two stars because of the portion of meat. After finishing my meal, I actually left the restaurant a little hungry.
Great sandwich when it’s made even just OKAY – but this is totally not worth the price if there’s literally no consistent quality going into what’s advertised.
Edit: Editing review to say… Don’t trust the reply from the owner below. They got back to us, offered a refund, and when I gave them my info they ghosted me completely.
Ordered for pickup, I get notified it is ready for pickup. When I get there they were just starting on the food. Not too big of a deal at first but it took a very long time. After the sandwiches were cooked and made, they forgot the Ajus sauce with the French dip. They went over to the sauce tub and said oh we are out, we are going to make more so you will have to wait. The meat for paying for extra meat was scarce, the grills and counters were dirty. Definitely not a good place to eat. There are many other sandwich places that blow this out of the water. Do better, hire better people.
They are friendly and helpful.
The music also adds to a really great atmosphere.
