Since 1933 the Bernardi family has been serving Italian & American cuisine. Famous for Italian Tortellini and spaghetti people travel from all over the state for great food, and friendly service. Mike Bernardi’s son and daughter have joined the family business, Tony in 1988 and Stephanie in 1996, bringing it to the third generation. After working the family business, they had thought it was time to expand out their great service and quality foods. Bernardi’s opened in Washington, IL in 2001, Bernardi’s II in Pontiac, IL in 2005, and the latest location is Bernardi’s North, opened in 2008 at Lake of the Woods Plaza in Dunlap, IL. We went here for the first time and the food was outstanding and the place was clean. Our waitress however was not very attentive because she had the table next to us who arrived after us and she obviously knew them. They received their drinks first and she kept checking on them. When we ordered I have a wine allergy ( my throat closes ) so I asked if the sauce had any wines in them, she stood there and said I don’t know and I said I am allergic to wine and she said well I’m not sure so my husband said well could you go ask and she said I guess so. Needless to say there was no wine and the food was amazing. Also she gave us our bread with no plates and our appetizers also with no plates. Very poor service.

I went there for dinner, it looked like a nice place. They had a nice special for a 12oz Ribeye. Unfortunately, after about 10 minutes, I never got a waitress or waiter to stop by to get my drink order, much less take my food order. So I just left.

This place is great. Classic family old school Italian restaurant. Great staff, food, atmosphere and value. I love the old gambling wheel that was used in the the old Chicago era. The family style chicken dinner was excellent. Great for getting together with friends.
