We ate here for the first time on a recent visit to Richmond, VA. The restaurant had a fun atmosphere with lots of waffle-related decor. There was a good selection of items, and we were able to find something for everyone in our party that included a mix of children and adults. The waffles are very creative, and they offer various types, from savory to sweet. They also offer egg dishes and breakfast tacos if you’re not in the mood for a waffle. This is definitely a cool little cafe to check out if you’re looking for a breakfast or brunch spot. And there’s a good selection of drinks, alcohol as well, for everyone in the group.

This place was so good! I got an iced latte with a vegan waffle (which also happens to be gluten free.) I can’t eat at most breakfast places, so it’s truly refreshing to have options. Fyi, the dairy alternative for their lattes was almond milk. Either way the staff was awesome!

My waffle was good (right side), my friend’s waffle no so much to me (left side)! However, I was expecting more from the experience. Seeing that their specialty are waffles. I was expecting for my socks to be blown away from the favors, but that wasn’t my experience. Still would recommend folks to try it out though, again the food was good and the service was nice too!

Went here for brunch around noon on a Sunday. Was seated quickly, but it took about 30 minutes to recieve our order. I had the Grandma Waffle, with strawberries, blueberries, eggs and chicken. The chicken had no flavor whatsoever, tasted like something from the grocery frozen food section. The waffle itself also didn’t have much flavor, neither did the eggs. The fruit was very fresh and tasted good. The western waffle wasn’t bad, but suffered from the same issues with the lack of flavor in the eggs and waffle. The jalapenos were good, not too spicy.

Capitol Waffle Shop was awesome! I went for the first time today and was highly impressed! The waffles are amazing and portion sizes are large! The toppings are unreal! Our server was super nice, very helpful and had a great personality! He even gave us a sample while we were waiting for our food! I also loved the merchandise and decor in the restaurant. I will definitely be back and can’t wait to try all of the different options!

First of all, let me start this out by saying how awesome their waffles are! My boyfriend and I love this place so much we come here on a regular basis, sometimes 1-2 times a week! We love the variety of waffles and have always enjoyed our food. However, their customer service definitely needs improvement. Sometimes when we come in, they wait on us at the table, other times we have to place an order at the register before we sit down – nothing is wrong with either way they choose to do it except no one tells you what’s going on. We’ve sat at a table waiting for 15-20 mins before someone finally came and told us we needed to place an order at the register. The next time we walked in, we stood in line to order only to be told (after waiting 10 mins) that we could have a seat and someone would be out with us shortly. There is no consistency here. The MAJOR issue I have is actually placing our order. There is a younger gentleman (who is very awkward, never says hello or how are you, which is whatever) that takes our order. He never writes your order down but proceeds to get you to repeat your order 4-5 times before walking to the back and putting it in. He then comes out AGAIN to verify what you wanted to order. Keep in mind, as stated before, I’ve been here multiple times and this continues to happen every time. Sometimes our food comes out right, sometimes it doesn’t. We’ve been charged incorrectly a couple different times by him. He mixes up tables and doesn’t know what goes where, mixing up drink orders, etc. As a manager myself, I can definitely see that he needs some additional training. He isn’t bad but he’s made our experience less than satisfactory on several occasions. So much so, that my boyfriend and I have decided that from now on, we are ordering online and eating our food either outside or in the car due to constantly having issues while placing/paying for our order. It’s a shame because I tell everyone how much we love this place and post it on Facebook regularly. I hope they get this young man the help & the confidence he needs to be successful.
