I recently dined at The Capital ( not to be confused with The Capital Grill)
while staying across the street at the Marriott. Intrigued by the ambiance, I decided to venture over and settled at the bar to order a martini. To my dismay, it arrived in an inappropriate champagne coupe or margarita glass, which severely detracted from the experience of enjoying a proper martini. It’s astonishing that a venue striving for a higher standard would serve such a classic cocktail in anything other than a martini glass.
I suspect this choice stems from concerns about breakage, perhaps to avoid the hassle of washing martini glasses. However, the guest experience should never suffer due to operational challenges. I can think of no other justification for this decision. In hindsight, I should have left at that moment, as the experience only declined from there.
The burger I ordered was average at best. While the bartending staff was competent, they lacked the personality that could elevate the experience. The clientele was pleasant, dressed nicely for a night out, suggesting this may be one of the nicer establishments in Little Rock. However, it falls short of the four or five-star mark in my opinion.
It seems that many in Little Rock may settle for two or three stars due to a lack of options, but that shouldn’t excuse subpar food quality and presentation. The place certainly looks appealing from the lobby and the front of the hotel, but the overall experience–especially regarding food presentation and glassware–left much to be desired.

Beautiful restaurant w big comfy bar and big comfty chairs. Quiet ambience and friendly staff who know all about what to see, eat, and do in Little Rock. Drinks are fantastic. Had a pimento cheese that was out of this world. Mushroom gnocchi tasted super
Fresh, cheesy, and was dynamite. Guy next to me was raving about the fried chicken and pecan pie. Extensive wine list w offerings from everywhere.

Capital Bar and Grill. It’s not bad. I do enjoy the atmosphere of this restaurant. It is very nice. Very elegant and a very nice place to whine and dine. I like the size. It’s not too big and it’s not too small. Perfect for a date night. However, the menu. The menu should be more extensive and unique and it’s offering. The items on the menu are not that exciting to me. The cooks however, seems to be very well disciplined in their culinary skills. For example, I don’t like lamb. No matter how many times I try it. I just can’t get past the wild game taste. It’s very distinct to my palate. With that being said, the shelf did an amazing job on the braze lamb shanks. Very minimal on the taste of game or wild that you find in lamb. But it was cooked to perfection. Very moist, very tender, very juicy. Paired with the mashed potatoes and vegetables. And the sauce that they added to it was fantastic. Again, I do not like lamb but the portion the price very reasonable and also worth it. Now the dessert. I ordered two banana puddings and only received one. Yikes! Now with the banana pudding I would add as a suggestion. Provide more wafer cookies. Two is simply not enough for a banana pudding as richich as this banana pudding is. But overall I would do Capital Bar and Grill again. It is a very nice establishment. The atmosphere. The whole decor of this restaurant is very nice.

Ate at this restaurant for lunch while touring the Capital Hotel. The menu was relatively small and they did have a few specials. I ordered a Cajun shrimp dish and banana pudding for dessert. The service was great and our waitress was especially friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not too busy during our outing so we were seated right away and the food did not take long to arrive after ordering.
I deducted 2 stars because the menu was really limited, in my opinion and the food was just ok and nothing spectacular while being relatively expensive. Would I go here again? Yes, but it would not be my first choice.

Location was nice … however – as excited as I was to try the food the first time today – it came out 40 minutes later, cold & I found a piece of hair on my pasta. Will never go back again. Disappointed as I was so excited to try the place! Management did not do anything once I did notify them of the hair in my food ( even tho I no longer wanted it) long wait times, cold unseasoned food .

Service was polite but not checking on us for refills etc.
Food was 3/5 for taste and quality.
Appetizer was good but like the entree over priced for what you get.
My trek continues for a quality meal in Little Rock. Looking for excellent service and food tha is worth the price.
My order was wrong as well but mention.

The Capital Bar and Grill has been a favorite restaurant of mine my entire adult life, but our experience last night ruined it for me forever. I will not ever be eating there again. We went for an adult family Christmas dinner, there were 8 of us. We were up charged on drinks, that we did not request. My only thought for this was to run our bills up higher. When we were given our ticket it was given as 1 total ticket, which we politely asked to have it split. We were told that was not a possibility, which was a lie. Every other table had separate checks, when talking about this to the manager, we were told it could be split by couple. After 20 minutes of waiting, they brought the checks just split evenly 4 ways. When asked why it wasn’t done the way we asked for it, they said it wasn’t possible. This has never been a problem in the past before. When the assistant manager dint want to deal with us anymore, she threw Our tickets at my mother’s spot, hitting her with them. Which is appalling and embarrassing for this “manager” to behave this way. Needless to say, after a beautiful evening with family this ruined it. We spent $1,100 on our meal and drinks. To be treated this way for a simple request is unacceptable.

I love pimento cheese, and this ranks better than my grandmother’s, and that’s saying something. We also loved the Short Rib Flatbread, the Cobb Salad, and the Southwest Salad with Shrimp. But by far the best entree was the Braised Short Rib. The brussel sprouts were cooked just right: a bit crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside; the short rib melted in my mouth. Unfortunately, there was a table of children seated near us who did what children do when their parents are at another table.

I was told that this bar was the best in Little Rock by multiple people, so I was excited to check it out. It’s in a beautiful hotel downtown, and it’s nice enough. The bartenders were friendly and my cocktail was fantastic. However, I found the food to be lackluster. The gnocchi had a good texture but needed some acid. The banana pudding was too sweet for me. I’d go back and order other things off the menu.
