We came in on a Saturday night and didn’t need a reservation, we were sat right awhile. It was moderately quiet, we didn’t have any issues with being able to hear each other. Plenty of seating and in downtown Fredericksburg so plenty of street parking around. The menu was pretty extensive with a large beer menu. We ordered the Walnut Whiskey Salmon with Mexican Street Corn subbed in for the mashed potatoes. My husbanded ordered the pierogi sampler. The salmon was very good and I definitely recommend. It was well cooked. I didn’t enjoy the Mexican Street Corn, it was missing flavor and also a little cold. I also wasn’t a fan of the pierogies but my husband enjoyed them.
Not bad for a relaxing night out and would come back for the beers again.

First time in Fredericksburg and figured I check out this place.
Jalapeno pierogis were delicious and good selection of beer. Sour mini something was delicious.
I ordered a NY Strip medium rare that came out after 40 minutes to medium well/ well. I asked for another and the bartender asked if I wanted to keep the plate to eat the sides and I said no. I waited another 40 minutes and asked the bartender where my recook was? She said I didn’t think you wanted another. I said I have been here for over 2 hours of course I wanted another one. 15 minutes later a recook came out and it was barely medium rare. I ate it as I was super hungry but not happy at all.
If I’m in the area maybe I would give it another chance as it’s a nice looking bar but downtown Fredericksburg has so many other restaurants.

Food has always been really good, especially wings! On a side note I just wish the service was a little better. Even when I’ve been the only customer in the restaurant it’s rare for your server to come and check on you, other than that everything is great.

So I left a bad review last time but have come back to see if it was a fluke / bad timing, etc. and it was. Our server Samantha was the best server I’ve ever had, she made the meal a memorable experience with her humor and left a wonderful impression on us all. We really enjoyed her presence. On the food, I got two meals, one stroganoff & one ny strip. Do not get the stroganoff, dog food. The NY strip was delicious & cooked perfectly, and the sides were exceptional, especially the fries. My brothers said there meals were delicious, they talked me into coming back and they were right. It wasn’t bad at all. All of this food came out to $109, not bad for 4 meals and one alcoholic beverage (not for myself, I don’t drink) … anywho, ask for Samantha. If she’s not there then just come back another time, she is the real reason why they can get 5 stars !

We stopped for lunch on 12/29/25 and enjoyed an excellent meal. The hostess seemed less than happy to be there, but our waiter, Keith, made up for at. He was friendly, attentive, helpful, and fast. The Bloody Marys were well-spiced and satisfying. The “Sailor” and “Cuban” sandwiches were excellent. The sides of warm German potato salad and jalapeño-flecked cole slaw also were very tasty. Thanks, folks. We’ll be back!

I stopped in for dinner and had one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. I ordered the chicken caprese and started with the bavarian pretzel.—both were so good, super fresh, and full of flavor. Our server, Samantha B., was incredible. She was super outgoing, genuinely helpful, and honestly made the whole experience even better. She recommended the Beer Zombies white chocolate beer, and I’m so glad she did. I never would’ve picked it on my own, but it ended up being delicious smooth, unique, and the perfect pairing with the meal.
Great food, great drinks, and even better service. Highly recommend!

We went to the Capital Ale House for the first time today, and that’s all it took for it to become our favorite restaurant in Fredericksburg, VA.
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and seated promptly.
Our server, Abbi S, was awesome. She was friendly, attentive and happily answered all our questions regarding our meal.
As for the food…well, both dishes were perfectly prepared, and bursting with flavor.
I had the Pesto Chicken pizza (best pizza ever!!) and my husband had the Wurst platter – never tasted mash so good.
We look forward to our next visit to the Capital Ale House, and trying another culinary delight.

The food was really good and our waiter was really good. The only problem we had was the booth we were seated had cold air blowing on it. It was 29F outside so we really wanted to be cozy…not cold. I asked to be moved to a different section…then everything was great! Just avoid the second booth on the left with the slanted table if you like to be warm.

The food was very good! My bun on my burger bounced so that was cool! The waitress was so polite and answered all our questions, and we had a lot as first timers!! I wasn’t expecting the place to be so big but it goes back quite far and they even have a downstairs wine/beer cellar. Definitely will go back!

This is a great place. But I think it’s under staffed. The restaurant was more than half empty and we still had to wait to be seated.
The food was good. A few of the menu items were out at 7pm. Stay away from the pasta dishes. Stick to the appetizers. We tried the wings were good, the Bavarian pretzel was good, the nachos were very light on the toppings.
The beef ribs were good too.
The big chocolate cake was not “enough for two”. But it was good nonetheless.
The restaurant is clean and not too noisy. I wouldn’t say that this place has a kid friendly menu.
Would my family come back? I’m not sure. I had mixed reactions from the family.
