I was looking for a different place to get barbacoa since I normally go to Monterrey on southmost, their great reviews were lies. It doesn’t have flavor even when you put salt and expensive for tasteless food everything is sold separately, tortillas and salsa. The one I go to taste way better.

Capistran Tortillas is a drive thru and has been a go-to tortilleria for warm corn tortillas and barbacoa for my family and friends for many years. Fresh cachete (beef cheek) and lengua (beef tongue) are sold on Sunday mornings. Be sure to show up early as they run out at some time during the day.

I went here at around 10:00 a.m. to get barbacoa de cachete. I’ve gotten it from all the other Capistrans, and it’s always about 95% meat and very little manteca. I’d never been to this one, and I was nearby so I decided I’d pick some up on the way home. Got home, opened it up and it was mostly ALL manteca. I think we were able to get about 6 tortilla de maiz taquitos out of the order. Stick to all the other ones if you’re ordering barbacoa, but not this one.
