This is a no frills American-Chinese food restaurant. The food is entirely Americanized with many deep fried, sweet-sauced classics.

The order was correct. The shrimp were inedible super tough chewy overcooked, the wonton wraps that the crab Puffs were made in were extremely old and stale. Barbecue pork was nice and soft, hot and sour soup was just broth apparently they’ve downsized the ingredients in that as well. Almond chicken was just as chewy as a sweet and sour chicken like they were both put in a microwave and overcooked dry as bone even with the sauces total disappointment. You can’t expect people to return to your company or place of business if you’re going to do subpar products just because you know that a to-go order isn’t going to be sitting there complaining about it in your dining area. How long will restaurants last while serving overcooked and smaller portions with higher prices?

Best place I’ve been to in a while. The staff were incredible. Prices were right. And a ton of food.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Canton Wok in The Dalles, Oregon, that I feel compelled to share. My order from this restaurant for takeout resulted in food poisoning, and the way the situation was handled over the phone was deeply disappointing.

Decent food, she does some things a whole lot different than what you may be used to; make sure you order the correct thing or know what they’re going to give you. I ordered pork chow mien/which is traditionally thick noodles with veggies and pork. I got bean sprouts and bits of chicken with sauce/no noodles at all. She insists that’s how she makes Chow Mien & that I wanted low mien. I have ordered it before & gotten the thick noodles with pork like Chow Mien is prepared traditionally so I was taken aback by the claim that that’s how she makes it. I feel like a corner was cut for cost efficiency. I returned the meal & she replaced it with low mien which I actually like more than chow mien so in this instance it was resolved.

I returned to Canton Wok after not eating there for several years. Used to eat there regularly then the place was sold and the new owners changed a few things, like not making a substitution on the combo meals menu. Returned recently for the lunch menu and didn’t ask for any substitution. The food was very good and it seems service has improved. Even with the smaller lunch portions we took food home with us. I will eat lunch there again and recommend it. Price for the meals was reasonable too.

Subgum chow mein IS NOT NOODLES. They just give you celery and steamed chicken. . I dont understand the lady and always ends up making me spend more on stuff she confuses me on. I always end up throwing stuff i dont like away, she got me now with the steamed chicken “chow mein” ….

Really hit the spot! No. 2 lunch special came with LOTS of good american-chinese food. I was super hungry, and everything tasted good. Additionally, they have taken many good steps in reducing contact during the COVID pandemic: full plexiglass barrier for take-out, no-contact card payment, and they will call you when your food is ready. Only took about 15 minutes!!
