Tonight’s dinner at Canton Bistro was the perfect finish—outstanding dishes that paired beautifully with drinks.

Food portions are generous! DELICIOUS beyond expectations. Been to many other restaurants and this one takes the trophy. The drinks are so good I will definitely be back. Nothing was too salty or sweet. Everything was at the perfect temperature. New favorite location found!

We did carry out tonight and it was excellent. Ordered chicken with vegetables, lemon chicken, combination fried rice, and vegetarian egg foo young. Everything was well prepared, fresh, and they packaged the food very well. A good value too, plenty of food!

I visited Canton Bistro for the first time with my wife and our young daughter, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. Our server, Jesus, displayed a noticeably negative attitude and seemed disengaged from the moment we arrived. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet service was unreasonably slow. We waited so long for a basic drink refill that we eventually had to ask a different server, who brought it promptly — which further highlighted that the issue was not due to busyness, but to the service we were receiving.

Additionally, the food portions were underwhelming. We ordered the chicken lo mein and the chicken asparagus, and both dishes contained very minimal amounts of chicken — approximately five small pieces per plate — which did not reflect good value or quality.

When my wife addressed the slow service with the manager, we were told the server had been assisting the owner with something in the parking lot, but this did not account for the overall inattentiveness and delay throughout the meal.

I am sharing this review not out of spite, but in the hope that the restaurant takes customer service and professionalism seriously. Our experience left us feeling unwelcome and undervalued as customers, and I sincerely hope the establishment considers addressing these concerns to improve the dining experience for future guests.

I like the food at Canton Bistro. I have had an unfortunate experience with delivery. I ordered 4 dishes and only recieved 3. I was not informed that this was happening and my bill was not adjusted accordingly. I paid in full, tipped and paid taxes on all the dishes, I was told they would do a refund on my credit card but I should wait a couple of days for it to appear. Over a week later I noticed the credit has not appeared. I called Canton Bistro and spend about 30 minutes on the phone with Venus to learn that they would not provide a refund and I would have to do it through Door Dash. Door Dash has a 24 hour refund policy so I am SOL. Thanks Canton Bistro, you just lost a customer and I hope that others read this.

I was in Indio for a day on vacation and found this restaurant and ordered sweet and sour shrimp and lo mein for take out. I also gave my name to the clerk at the register, but when I went back and checked the items, they were different, although it was my fault for not checking my name. The clerk called my name, but the product was completely different from the sweet and sour shrimp and lo mein that I spent $40 on someone else’s. I am very disappointed and would like a refund. I am very disappointed because I was looking forward to the products.

This Chinese restaurant near Palm Springs stands out as one of the finest. The cuisine is extraordinary, complemented by exceptional service. The eggplant dish was incredibly delicious, and the portions were generous. Good vegetarian options.

We Should Have Just Gone to Jack-In-The-Box

I went to the Canton Bistro recently with three friends I haven’t seen in a while. We decided to meet at 3:30 to be able to miss the lunch and dinner crowds and be able to talk.

Let me repeat that:

* We arrived at 3:30pm.

The four of us sat down at our table and the waitress (Norma: I tell you Norma’s name now, because it will be a while before she comes back into the picture . . quite a while), handed us our menus and asked us if we were ready to place our orders. Considering we had *just* sat down, and she had *just* handed us the menus, we said we would need a minute.

We looked over the menus, made a few decisions, and got to talking while we were waiting for Norma to return and take our orders. We hadn’t seen each other in quite a while, so time got away from us while we were chatting. Then we realized it had been a while, wondering when Norma would be back to take our orders. This is when we realized it was 5:15pm.

For those of you only reading the bullet points and not the text, let me recap events:

* 3:30pm We Arrived
* 5:15pm Our server had NOT taken our orders yet

I finally left the table to hunt the hostess down. I asked her where our server was, as we had, surprisingly, planned on eating while we were here. She asked me the server’s name. Now I realized our server had not told us her name, and did not wear a name tag. (I didn’t actually learn Norma’s name until later). I told the hostess this, but pointed out which table we were sitting at. The hostess had no idea who was working that table, but assured me she would ask around and find out who it was and send them over. Hmmm . . .

So yes, our orders got taken, including appetizers. Only HALF the appetizers arrived. Meanwhile, the ice literally melted in glasses while we waited for our food, which arrived an hour later. Yep, that’s right, it’s now 6:20pm. Norma asked if the missing appetizers arrived, and when we told her no, she said “well, do you want them now?” She then proceeded to pour refills of fresh iced tea into the glasses with the completely melted ice cubes.

Bullet Point Recap:

* 3:30pm We Arrived
* 5:15pm Hostess finds Norma to take our orders
* 6:20pm Food arrives

We finish our meal by 7pm and I’m sure you’re shocked to hear, we haven’t seen Norma. I once again hunted down the hostess to get our check from Norma. The hostess has no idea where Norma is. Norma arrives ten minutes later with the check.

Norma says she appreciates our patience because, “it’s always so busy during dinner.” Really, you don’t say, if only we had planned . . .

Bullet Point Recap:

* 3:30pm We Arrived
* 5:15pm Hostess finds Norma to take our orders
* 6:20pm Food arrives
* 7:00pm Dinner finished and we all just want OUT

Now since Canton Bistro charges an extra 3% for using your credit card, we had all pre-decided to make sure we hit the ATM to bring cash to pay the bill (because really, who uses cash that often anymore?). Oh, and PS, it notes on the menu that prices can be changed without notice; isn’t that fun.

Norma picks up the tray with the cash and the check, walks a few steps away, twirls around and with a flourish and loud voice calls out:

“You didn’t want your change from this, did you?”

Came in early at 430pm ordered food for dining in, took 55 minutes before we were able to get waitress attention. We were not happy at this point. After letting her know we had food within 10 minutes. I had also placed an order togo. Did not receive correct items. We typically love this restaurant but tonight was a disappointment we get that it’s a holiday but togo orders seems to have been there focus instead of patrians sitting patiently for their meal. Ordered deluxe chow fun No shrimp and no beef! Saddens me that they didn’t seem to care. We think twice before returning.

I’ve been coming here for years and I really enjoy this place. I got the orange chicken lunch special. It came with soup, rice and an entree. It has so much flavor, its always crispy and fresh!
