One of my favorite restaurants so far, I always visit with friends and the food along with service never disappoints. The portions are huge and their margaritas are great.

The vibe here is terrific if you want authentic Mexican food. I had a tasty mojito and a burrito which came on a plate made of hot lava. Yummy!

Stumbled upon this place accidentally and it was good. More spice would be my biggest critique. Salsa very mild, need some heat! Otherwise everything was good food wise. Bathroom was a mess though.

After reading reviews online , we went their for dinner and not disappointed. This restaurant is very nice, great Mexican taste, nice decoration, nice welcoming staff. Our host Daniel is great , he kept checking on us , if need anything , kept us informing when our food is coming. Food portions are big and generous!! He is very sweet guy and offered us complimentary nachos and salsa on our check out.
Food itself was great, full of flavor. I really enjoyed here dining. They also has outside dining. Bar tender was great and made my drink perfectly. Definitely recommen this restaurant and definitely will come back again.

I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading some other reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised with our first visit. It has colorful decorations and a big and inviting wrap around bar. We went for lunch and both had delicious dishes, that came in big plates with lots of food portions. I tried the Cochinita Pibill, after our waitress recommended it. It was so tender and tasty, I loved every bite. My wife had Veggie Fajitas, with a little twist that included carrots and cauliflower. It was fantastic and had big portions. I would definitely go back again

My wife and 3 daughters were visiting the area and had many options for dinner one night and we chose to come here. It was an authentic and incredible meal for all of us and the staff was just as good. If we ever visit New Haven again we will definitely eat here again.

So I had to delete my positive post from a year ago. Went back this year, and ordered meal I loved last year only to find nothing the same. Was literally the blandest food I’ve tasted in years, absolutely no seasonings whatsoever.. and its supposed to be Mexican. Beyond disappointment. Found out under new ownership a year ago. I definitely won’t be back. Horrible would be a compliment.

This was our first time visiting Cantina del Rio. The restaurant was very busy, but we were able to find a seat right away. The staff was courteous and efficient. Our server was familiar with the menu (it is extensive) and was able to offer suggestions. The chips and salsa were good. We did feel like the salsa was too tomato-sauce-ish. The addition of some fresh tomatoes, garlic and cilantro would have brightened it up some.

My husband had Del Rio Enchiladas, I had the Burrito Bowl with chicken. He enjoyed his food. The burrito bowl was very good also–the mix of flavors was tasty, it was lighter fare, and it felt like real food. It was also satisfying, which is where some lighter dishes in restaurants miss the mark. The only improvement I would make on the Burrito Bowl would be to roast the corn and change the dressing to a vinegar base instead of mayo based. The dressing was a little too sweet and didn’t help it very much flavor-wise. The black beans were nicely seasoned. The grilled chicken was very good.

We will probably go back. Our food came out very quickly–less than twenty minutes– which is nice when a restaurant is busy. While not super-authentic, it was a pleasant place to eat and the food was decent for the price.

Had a very enjoyable night out with the girls. They accommodated my keto lifestyle. I brought my own chips for salsa. They served my fajitas without rice, beans or tortillas . I also ordered tortilla soup without the tortillas. It was delicious and fun

First of all they said it would take 30 mins for 2 burritos and 3 tacos. And then when we got our food if had clearly been sitting g for over 10 minutes. The beef in the taco had large chunks. One the size of a full marshmallow. The beef tastes like they just put beef in a pan and cooked it. I got a $15 pork burrito which ended up being a rice burrito with a few shreds of pork. And lastly icing on the cake some of the vegetables were old and poorly prepared. Aka found the top of a tomato in a vegi burrito bowl.
