We enjoyed a nice lunch here yesterday! It’s a quaint Mexican restaurant conveniently located close to the Eastern State Prison. They have a large specialty drink menu and the food was great!

The food is excellent. The prices are excellent.

The manager needs to manage. The staff needs to think about his they work – never walk without something in your hands. Pick up empty bottles or plates as you walk back to the service area. Help others drop food off. It takes a team. The outside area is nice but can use some embellishments.

Street parking is usually easy and there is a pay lot just a block away.

We’ve been a few times. The food is okay. I do like that they have a nice happy hour menu. The place is decorative and has indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is always doing the best they can. Never had any real issues.

We stopped in on a Saturday for a snack after a tour at the Eastern State Penitentiary – really loved the decorations! and the taquitos! My partner got the nachos and appreciated how much jalapenos and peppers were piled on.

A Celebration of Flavor and Heart!

From the moment you walk into Cantina Calaca Feliz, you’re wrapped in warmth—vibrant colors, inviting energy, and a team that treats you like family. This isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to feel good.

The food is the real star. Every dish is a burst of authentic Mexican flavor, made with care and creativity. From the perfectly seasoned tacos to the comforting enchiladas and fresh guacamole, you can taste the passion behind every bite. The portions are generous, the presentation is beautiful, and the quality is consistently top-notch.

What makes the experience truly memorable, though, is the people. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. They go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable and cared for—whether it’s your first visit or you’re a regular.

Calaca Feliz is more than a restaurant—it’s a joyful, flavorful experience. If you’re looking for a spot that brings people together over delicious food and great vibes, look no further. This place is a gem.

A beautiful setting in back after you walk through the bar-bottleneck area. Outdoor seats and a two-storey light filled dining area.

Attentive service (who took away my plate as I was still eating-I stopped them) and a Sunday Brunch menu covering the basics. Not a lot here for the vegan/vegetarian but we came up with mushroom tacos, a menu item, minus the cheese and cream.

Excellent guacamole and good chips: a dark salsa which looked amazing but didn’t even have the flavor of tomato, or the heat of a stick of gum. And that’s my complaint, including with the tacos: zero flavor, no nuance of taste, scents of cooking oils only, simply void of flavor in any dish we had. The watermelon gazpacho tasted stale, and of rind, not juicy melon.

Forget hot, or spicy, or seasoned. Neither the enchilada or the tacos had any.

Priced reasonably if you are not picky about taste- nothing has any “bite” besides salt, I cannot recommend a visit.

Service – 5
Vibe – 5
Food – 2*

Maybe we just ordered all the wrong things, but all the dishes we ordered were mid. The chicken enchilada was covered in sauce but somehow the chicken itself was dry and tough. The chimichurri steak was also dry and overcooked. The sauce was also sour. The food presentation though looked nice. Because of the price vs food taste, I say food was a 1-2.

The service was nice. The staff came over many times after we ordered but before our food came to ask if we needed anything/wanted to order more. The food did take a while to come out ~40 minutes after ordering. We also did not have a wait time because we made a reservation. On a Friday night, it was packed!

The interior dining space is also gorgeous. There’s three options for tables: bar (at the very front), outdoor in their back patio (or on the street side) and the indoor dining room (!!). We sat indoors and the dining room was gorgeous!

I would recommend coming here for a vibe-y date night to grab drinks (only!). The happy hour menu looked good so I’ll give it another try then.

Such a beautiful establishment !

From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the genuine love for food radiating throughout the restaurant. The service was tremendous, with attentive staff who seemed genuinely passionate about ensuring a memorable dining experience for everyone who was dining there. (ps – big shout out to my host Tyler and my server Lydia who were so courteous and kind, they did such a phenomenal job ! )

As for the food, it was so well crafted with care and attention to detail. You can absolutely taste the dedication in every bite as it’s evident that the chefs poured their hearts into every plate. (The chef who made my nachos did an excellent job, very well portioned and wholesome !) I would definitely recommend the guacamole sampler, as it was something entirely different than the typical guacamole you would find at any other restaurant. The virgin margarita was tasty as well !! 🙂

I recently hosted a birthday party at Cantina Feliz and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We had about 35 guests seated comfortably at two long tables inside, and everything—from the atmosphere to the service—was flawless.
The vibe of the evening was exactly what I envisioned: moody, chill, and mature, with a warm and welcoming feel that made the space come alive. I brought in a personal décor details and gave the staff minimal direction, but they absolutely nailed it. The setup was perfect—just how I pictured it.
The food was incredible. My personal favorite was the carne asada with potatoes and asparagus—cooked beautifully and full of flavor. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the event, and my husband was impressed by how smoothly everything flowed. The waiting staff were quick, attentive, and kept the food and drinks coming all night long. The fact that the restaurant offered dietary accommodations and even created a custom menu for us made everything feel even more special.
A huge shout-out to Natalie, the general manager, who handled every detail with calm professionalism, even when I threw a few last-minute requests her way. She and her team made sure the entire evening went off without a hitch. Another shout out to Shawn, the waiter who was friendly and extra attentive. Many guests raved over his excellent service.
Other larger restaurants may offer similar large group options, but Cantina Feliz made it feel personal. If you’re looking for a place to host a celebration—or just enjoy an amazing dinner in a stylish atmosphere—look no further than Cantina Feliz.
