The Canoe Club is all about Southern comfort. Enjoy casual dining with panoramic views of the May River on one side and the Palmetto Bluff inland waterway on the other. Our coastal kitchen menu celebrates local seafood, drawing ingredients and inspiration from the May River such as local shrimp, oysters and seafood prepared in a variety of ways. Partnering with area farms we source fresh vegetables, beef and poultry to create dishes that honor the bounty of the Lowcountry.

The Canoe Club has a very creative seasonal menu featuring many fresh fares from the local seafood selection. The roasted oyster appetizer was particularly good, as was the black grouper. The desert menu was limited, and some of the food was overly creative to its own detriment, where it looked amazing, but the flavor didn’t match the visual appeal.

Fantastic and superb. Had oysters and Paella – easily the BEST Paella I’ve ever had. Phenomenal service. Decor is very cool – ceiling looks like an inverted boat. Thank you for an incredible experience.

We made reservations for our anniversary and we spoke to staff the day before and requested and confirmed an inside table. Instead, we were seated outside on the porch at a table from inside. Seriously…not sure if there was some miscommunication or what. There was no apology…we were asked if that wasn’t “suitable” for us. The guy at the host stand was not friendly or apologetic. The server was very kind and we thought the evening would improve from there, but we were wrong. We were there for an hour before we were able to order entrees. Once the food finally came, it wasn’t even hot. Couldn’t even eat the mashed potatoes we ordered because they were so cold. We couldn’t send them back because no one even came to check on us. At a restaurant of that caliber, we shouldn’t have to refill our wine glasses, but we did. The food was sub par, the service was very disappointing, and the host needs to find another job. At the end of the meal, he brought out an anniversary card signed by other staff members of the restaurant…strangers to us. Not to sound ungrateful, but it was such a bizarre gesture. A normal congratulatory gesture would be to bring out a glass of champagne. We felt unwelcome and were extremely disappointed with the whole experience. We should’ve gone to the River House instead.

I would definitely recommend Palmetto Bluff as a weekend destinatiin AND the Canoe Club Restaurant. The Canoe Club is a beautiful restaurant, terrific menu, staff, & drink selections. Inside and outside seating. Restaurant is on the second story of the building but there is an elevator to get there as well. All over looking the May River, SC.
