The first time I looked this place up, I went there and it ended up being closed for the day. So the second time, I was really hoping that it was open, and I am so glad that it was. We got the jolof combo, and the fufu (I think).. The flavors of both dishes were significantly different.. I love the spicy sauce that both came with too.. the chunk of fried chicken that we had was really good and super crispy but juicy on the inside. The piece of fish on my plate was really good as well. The beef in the stews on both dishes were so good.. everything mixed together was so tasty.. of equal noteworthiness were the homemade canned drinks that were there in the fridge in the main room. There was a fresh ginger lemonade that was so potent yet so good. There was also a creamed cornmeal drink that was very unique (and thick for my initial liking, but tasted good – it probably could’ve been a meal by itself).. to anyone that wants to try South African food, check this place out.. it’s new but everything is made with love.. my only qualm is that the menu in the restaurant seem to not be working, so she had to explain everything herself (why I have service a 4, but she was soo warm and patient with us).. I’m definitely planning to come back here soon..

OMG!!! I ordered waakye at this place and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had in Sayreville NJ. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly, the stew was rich and flavorful, and the spices tasted authentic just like back home. The portion was generous and everything tasted fresh. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the service was friendly. If you’re craving real Ghanaian waakye, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!

I love trying new restaurants, and from the name I honestly thought this would be something candy-related — but to my surprise, it turned out to be an amazing place! The new owners have renovated it beautifully. The space feels modern, the bathrooms are surprisingly big and very well designed, and the overall vibe is really nice.
The food was great, and it looks like they haven’t even started their full menu yet — can’t wait to see more options. We will definitely be going back with friends. It’s a lovely spot, nicely updated, and even perfect for organizing ladies’ parties or small gatherings. Highly recommend!
