Social Profile:

Owners Bill and Kim Volk opened the Camp Robber restaurant in 1994 in Montrose, Colorado.
The concept for the restaurant began years earlier when the owner’s love of the mountains moved them from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Colorado. While on many outings in the beautiful Colorado Mountains, they were visited by the Canadian Grey Jay, nicknamed the Camp Robber.
Camp Robber birds are known for swooping down on campers and stealing food from picnic tables, or eating right out of your hands. The Camp Robber Restaurant and Robbers Roost Bar is known only for robbing you of your appetite and thirst.
Southwestern flavors are the main focus, but our culinary artists and bartenders create a variety of hand crafted foods and cocktails.
Innovative restaurant serving Southwestern specialties & gluten-free items in a contemporary space.

We had a wonderful dinner at Camp Robber. I was happy to have several vegan options, even a vegan dessert!! We ordered fried artichoke hearts, vegan tamales & crab cake sandwiches (for the non vegan) and everything was amazing!!

Ordered 5 sides to go with bbq. All of it was tasteless. The posole had chiles but didn’t taste. The mashed potatoes looked weird. Wasn’t sure if it was in gravy or butter but tasteless. Cole slaw was bigger sliced cabbage. The pinto beans didn’t taste either. Broccoli was the only one we agreed tasted decent. We had a little Jimmers bbq cheesy potatoes left and those were so good in comparison. No one wanted the leftovers so through it away.

Stopped by here on a whim on the way back from Ouray. It did not disappoint. We had the blue corn enchiladas and it was amazing. 10/10. Waitress was attentive and the food came out quick. We will be going back for sure. 5 stars

It’s a good restaurant, family friendly trying to be upscale. The food was good but fish tacos were hard yo eat, a little tiny shell overloaded with filling that just falls apart. The club was good. Restaurant and restrooms were clean and everyone was friendly.

Great foodie find! Got TexMex blue corn enchiladas which were delicious. Drinks were decent. Food and drinks were slow to come out, but we weren’t in a rush. Would definitely eat here again if in the area.

Camp robber is a really excellent family owned restaurant. They offer a great diverse menu that gives plenty of options but doesn’t feel like too much to choose from.
When my wife and I arrived we were warmly greeted by pleasant staff. Our waitress was very attentive and even allowed us to sample one of the sides we were considering before committing to it.
The food itself was really good. My wife did the coconut shrimp with coconut chicken soup with fries. The quality of the food tasted as good as the presentation.
I had the Thai peanut chicken wrap. It was delicious. The sweet potato fries were an excellent side to this.
The prices are a bit higher than I would have like to spend initially but overall not drastic considering the area. The experience was worth it. I love the Camp Robber and definitely recommend to anyone looked for a great dining experience from an excellent establishment.

While visiting Montrose, we ate here and loved it. Atmosphere is welcoming and lovely. Service by Lilja was great—she was kind and humorous. We both had New Mexican dishes, and both were outstanding.
We enjoyed dinner so much we returned the next night and had an equally good meal with also-great server Beth.
If you visit Montrose, eat here!!

Camp Robber offers high quality food and excellent service. (When was the last time you had a manager check on you when you were paying less than $30 for your meal?) The pistachio chicken salad is my top choice–the peach margarita dressing is heavenly! Do not miss the peanut butter pie. Seriously.

45 min for appetizer, 4 dinner items, 3 cold. Waitress was not the most enjoyable personality (Aimee L) when we expressed our disappointment, also did not offer replacement and the Manager on duty had no clue what was going on due to her sitting in booth 2 booths away chatting it up. Not sure why the food was cold. We used to love this place, will not be going back.

Excellent food! Chile rellenos are great. Red sauce is hotter than the green. Both had great flavor. My wife had the pistachio chicken stuffed avocado salad. The peach margarita dressing was very tasty. Both excellent choices. The beef and bean nachos were also great. Great place to eat and we will be back!
